Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen hit his 24th home run of the season, tying the franchise record by a rookie, but the Boston Red Sox held them scoreless from there evening the series at Fenway Park with a 5-1 win.
The Red Sox opened the scoring in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Adley Rutschman driving in Roman Anthony. The Royals tied the game in the top of the sixth on Jensen's solo home run, before Boston scored two in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead back for good, both runs scoring on an RBI double by Wilyer Abreu, bringing home Mickey Gasper and Rutschman to put the Red Sox ahead 3-1.
Caleb Durbin drove in Nick Sogard with an RBI single in the seventh inning, and in the eighth Sogard drove in a run of his own scoring Trevor Story with an RBI double to cap the scoring. Randy Dobnak took the loss, falling to 3-4 on the season, but continued his solid run to the season since joining the Royals starting rotation holding the Red Sox to a run and four singles before he was lifted with two on and two outs in the sixth inning. Anthony Gose surrendered the go ahead double to Abreu, bringing the runners Dobnak put on across home.
Bobby Witt Jr. reached 40 stolen bases for the second time in his career when he swiped second in the first inning. Witt Jr finished 1-for-4 on the day. Jensen was also 1-for-4 with the home run and an RBI, striking out twice. Salvador Perez was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Kansas City and Boston wrap up their series tomorrow. Noah Cameron (9-8, 3.93 ERA, 145K's) is set to start for the Royals against Payton Tolle (9-6, 3.15 ERA, 159K's) for the Red Sox. First pitch was scheduled for 12:35pm, but was moved due to forecasted rain, and will now begin at 2:05pm, with pregame at 1:30pm on KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM).
