 Henry Davis homered, Bryan Reynolds hit a pair of doubles and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8-3 on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium evening up the three game series between the NL Central foes.

Davis hit his sixth home run of the season in the third inning to give Pittsburgh an 8-0 lead.

Nolan Gorman hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals, his 13th of the season in the fourth inning.&nbsp; Willson Contreras drove in the Redbirds only other run of the game on a groundout in the sixth inning, scoring Lars Nootbaar.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Contreras was suspended for six games and fined an undisclosed amount for his tirade during the St. Louis Cardinals' 7-6 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night, but informed Major League Baseball he will appeal the suspension, which means it will not take effect immediately. He was in the lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Pirates.

Contreras threw a bat that mistakenly hit Cardinals hitting coach Brant Brown and tossed bubble gum on the field after he was ejected. Manager Oliver Marmol also was tossed during an animated argument with the umpires after a called third strike in the seventh inning.

Contreras said he didn't understand why he was thrown out of the game. He said he argued balls and strikes with plate umpire Derek Thomas but didn't address a specific pitch and didn't say anything disrespectful.

Mitch Keller (6-12) allowed three runs on three hits and struck out nine in six innings for the Pirates, who have won five of six.&nbsp; Andre Pallante took the loss for the Cardinals, falling to 6-12. allowing eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and a walk in five innings. He is 0-4 with a 11.65 ERA over 17 innings in his last four starts.

At the plate, Gorman was 1-for-4 with the home run and two RBIs.&nbsp; Alec Burleson and&nbsp;Iván Herrera also had one hit each as the Cardinals managed just five baserunners overall against the Pirates in the loss.

Cardinals offense sputters against Pirates in 8-3 loss

After trailing through the early innings of the game, the Kansas City Royals used the final two innings to rally back and beat the Chicago White Sox in comeback fashion, winning 5-4 on Tuesday evening at Rate Field to even up their three game series

The White Sox took the lead in the second inning on a solo home run by Colson Montgomery.&nbsp; In the sixth inning, Chicago added their final three runs, the first coming on an RBI single by Kye Teel driving in Brooks Baldwin.&nbsp; Another RBI single off the bat of Lenyn Sosa in the inning scored Mike Tauchman, before the final run of the inning came home on a wild pitch by Royals reliever John Schreiber, scoring&nbsp;Miguel Vargas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Trailing 4-0, the Royals cut the lead in half finding their way onto the scoreboard in the eighth inning.&nbsp; With two outs and the bases loaded, Maikel Garcia drove in two with a single, scoring Jonathan India and Adam Frazier.&nbsp; With Kyle Isbel at third base, Bobby Witt Jr struck out swinging to end the inning with Kansas City down 4-2.&nbsp;

In the ninth inning, the Royals again loaded the bases, this time with one out, and this time it was Michael Massey delivering a two RBI single to tie up the game, driving in Vinnie Pasquantino and&nbsp;Mike Yastrzemski, moving India to third base.&nbsp; With India at third, after Frazier was hit by a pitch to reload the bases, Isbel delivered the go ahead RBI single bringing India home for what would be the winning run.&nbsp; In the bottom of the ninth,&nbsp;Carlos Estévez retired the White Sox 1-2-3, with two strikeouts, earning his 35th save.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Royals late rally fuels comeback 5-4 win over White Sox

Kansas State alum and Maryville's Serena Sundell is getting another shot at the WNBA.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sundell was one of 16 basketball players who were invited to WNBA Draft Night in New York, but she fell lower than expected and was ultimately 26th overall by the Seattle Storm. Sundell, who is Kansas State’s all-time assists leader and was widely seen as one of the top playmakers in the class, was waived before the season’s start and has yet to appear in a regular-season WNBA game.

Before being waived from the Storm, Sundell appeared in one preseason game and struggled in her 20 minutes, tallying 1 point (0-3 FG), 1 assist, and 4 turnovers.&nbsp;Now though, she will get her WNBA opportunity.&nbsp; 

Sundell signed a seven-day hardship contract with the Dallas Wings, the team announced on Tuesday morning. The signing comes in the wake of a season-ending injury to rookie guard JJ Quinerly, who suffered a sprained ACL last week. As such, Sundell will be available for Wednesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun.

Last month, Sundell played for the 2025 USA 3×3 Women’s Nations League Team in Chile, helping the team win the Americas Conference Title.

Sundell gets another shot at WNBA, signs 7-day contract with Dallas Wings

&nbsp;Alec Burleson hit a game-ending solo homer with two out in the ninth inning, lifting the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night at Busch Stadium.

Burleson drove an 87 mph slider from Dennis Santana (4-5) deep to center for his 16th homer. It was his fourth hit of the night.&nbsp; It was the first run allowed by Santana since Aug. 6. The right-hander surrendered three hits in 6 1/3 scoreless innings over his previous six appearances.

Over his last 10 games, Burleson is 17 for 43 with five extra-base hits and eight RBI.

Willson Contreras had two RBI for St. Louis, which had dropped eight of 11. Michael McGreevy permitted four runs and six hits in six innings.

Bryan Reynolds and Spencer Horwitz hit back-to-back homers for Pittsburgh in the third.

St. Louis grabbed the lead with five runs in the fifth. Contreras hit a tying two-run single and scored on Nolan Gorman's double against Andrew Heaney. Thomas Saggese made it 6-4 with an RBI single.

Nick Gonzales got one back for Pittsburgh with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, and Ronny Simon hit a tying RBI double off Riley O’Brien (2-0) in the ninth.

Contreras and Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol were ejected in the seventh after arguing a called third strike.

Trailing 1-0 going into the second, the Cardinals got run-scoring hits from Nathan Church and Lars Nootbaar before another run scored on a wild pitch and Burleson drove in two runs with a single to right field.

Tampa Bay's Yardy Diaz hit a two-run homer in the third. It was his 17th homer at Steinbrenner Field and 21st of the season overall. Ivan Herrera added an RBI single in the fourth for the Cardinals and Contreras hit his 18th homer of the season in the seventh off Bryan Baker.

Sonny Gray earned the win, improving to 12-6 on the season, allowing three runs on six hits in five innings, with six strikeouts and a walk. Kyle Leahy, Matt Svanson and JoJo Romero, who earned his fourth save, combined to limit Tampa Bay to one run and five hits the rest of the way.

Vinnie Pasquantino put the ball in the stands for the sixth time during the Kansas City Royals homestand, and the fourth game in a row, giving the Royals the lead on way to a 6-4 win over the Texas Rangers on Thursday afternoon.&nbsp;

With the home run, Pasquantino&nbsp;is now one shy of tying the club record of five consecutive games with a homer, which was accomplished by Salvador Perez from Aug. 25-29, 2021, and Mike Sweeney from June 25-29, 2002.

The Royals took the lead first in the second inning, a solo home run by Nick Loftin sailing over the left field bullpen.&nbsp; In the third inning though, the Rangers tied up the game with two outs on an RBI single by Joc Pederson, driving in Wyatt Langford who walked with one out in the inning.&nbsp;

In the bottom half of the third inning, the Royals took the lead back, at first on what appeared to be an inside the park home run by Bobby Witt Jr.&nbsp; Fan interference though made it a ground rule double and Witt Jr ended up at second base, but still later scored on an RBi single by the captain Salvador Perez giving Kansas City a 2-1 lead.&nbsp;

Kansas City added two more runs in the fourth inning, a sacrifice fly by Tyler Tolbert scoring Jonathan India and a single by Maikel Garcia driving in Loftin, but in the top of the fifth mistakes cost the Royals and the Rangers tied the game.&nbsp; With the bases loaded and one out, a potential inning ending double play sailed past Witt Jr from India as Witt just missed the ball on allowing Corey Seager to score.&nbsp; 

A single by Josh Smith was the tying blow, driving in Ezequial Duran and Evan Carter to tie up the game at 4-4. In the bottom half of the inning, Pasquantino led off the inning with his solo home run to give the Royals the lead back though.&nbsp; A bases loaded walk to&nbsp;Luke Maile in the seventh inning scored the final run, bringing home Perez for the Royals.&nbsp;

Angel Zerpa earned the win in relief, improving to 5-1 on the season, pitching 1 2/3 innings with one strikeout.&nbsp;&nbsp;Carlos Estévez earned his 33rd save, also striking out one, in a 1-2-3 ninth inning.&nbsp; At the plate, Perez was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.&nbsp; Witt Jr was 2-for-5 with a double and two stolen bases, while Pasquantino was 1-for-5 with the home run and an RBI.

Kansas City now travels to Detroit for a massive AL Central clash.&nbsp; Ryan Bergert (1-1, 2.75 ERA) takes the mound for the Royals against Casey Mize (12-4, 3.63 ERA) for the Tigers.&nbsp; First pitch is at 6:10pm with pregame coverage beginning at 5:30 on KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM).

Pasquantino homers again as Royals beat Rangers 6-4

Northwest Missouri State University track &amp; field head coach Brandon Masters has added former Missouri Western State University Track and Field coach Cody Ingold to the Bearcat staff as an assistant coach.

"I'm very happy to have someone of impeccable character, unmatched experience and technical aptitude join the Bearcat family," Masters said in a news release from the university. "Cody has a skill set that complements mine and I am looking forward to building our team with him. I've watched the success he's had in the MIAA and I am excited to get the opportunity to coach with him."

Ingold produced 33 national qualifiers, 28 NCAA Div. II All-Americans and eight MIAA champions at Missouri Western. Ingold had served as the MoWest head track &amp; field/cross country coach since 2019 and had been the Griffons' first assistant coach in program history in 2017 prior to taking over the head job in St. Joseph.

Ingold says he cannot wait to get started at Northwest.

"I'm incredibly excited to join the Bearcat family and contribute to the proud tradition of excellence at Northwest Missouri State University," Ingold said. "Coach Masters and his staff have built a culture of hard work and success. I look forward to supporting our student-athletes as they grow both on and off the track. It's an honor for my family and I to be part of a team that's committed to developing champions in competition, in the classroom and in life."

Ingold came to MoWest from St. Gregory University in Shawnee, Okla. At St. Gregory, he was the head men's cross country for three seasons and head men's track coach for two. He also assisted with both women's programs. Under his guidance, the Cavaliers had 13 national qualifiers, three all-conference athletes, one All-American, and one NAIA national champion.  

Before SGU, Ingold was an assistant coach at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Doane College in Crete, Neb., and Dana College in Blair, Neb. He worked with 84 all-conference performers, 31 conference champions, six All-Americans, two national runner-up finishes and two national champions.

Ingold is taking over for Nikki Segrest, who was named the head track and field coach at Missouri S&amp;T in Rolla, Mo., earlier this summer.

An RBI single by Marcus Semien off Royals starter Noah Cameron cut the lead to one driving in Langford in the third inning for the Rangers.&nbsp; Then, in the seventh inning off reliever Lucas Erceg, Corey Seager hit an RBI single scoring Jonah Heim to tie up the game at 3-3.&nbsp; The game remained tied until the ninth inning, when things fell apart for the Kansas City bullpen.&nbsp;

Royals fall to Rangers 6-3 as bullpen lets game slip away

The St. Louis Cardinals bounced back from a five game losing streak and won the series against the Miami Marlins, but dropped the series finale on Wednesday afternoon at Loan Depot Park 6-2, missing out on getting back to .500 and a series sweep.&nbsp;

The Marlins opened the scoring in the second inning with&nbsp;Heriberto Hernández scoring following his leadoff single as&nbsp;Javier Sanoja grounded into a double play.&nbsp; In the third inning Miami added two more runs, with two outs, on a two RBI single by&nbsp;Hernández driving in&nbsp; Jakob Marsee and Agustín Ramírez for a 3-0 lead at the end of three innings.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Cardinals cut into the lead in the fifth inning, Lars Nootbaar's ground rule double driving in Yohel Pozo, but in the bottom half of the inning the Marlins got the run back with an RBI single from Troy Johnston scoring Liam Hicks.&nbsp; St. Louis scored their final run in the sixth inning on a solo home run by Willson Contreras, but again in the bottom half Miami scored with a solo home run of their own, Maximo Acosta hitting his first major league home run.&nbsp;

The Marlins scored their final run of the game in the eighth inning on a bases loaded walk to Marsee, driving in Derek Hill.&nbsp;

Andre Pallante took the loss, falling to 6-11 on the season, pitching 5 1/3 innings and giving up five runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and three walks.&nbsp; At the plate, Nootbaar was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.&nbsp; The Cardinals had just five hits in the game, all coming off Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara.

Cardinals win series but drop series finale to Marlins 6-2

The Kansas City Royals continued to find a power surge, mashing three home runs, and beating the Texas Rangers 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium to extend their win streak to five games in a row and secure at least a split of the four game series.&nbsp;

After the Rangers took the lead in the top of the first on a solo home run by Corey Seager, the Royals tied up the game with the first of their home runs as Vinnie Pasquantino homered for a second game in a row, hitting his 24th of the season with two outs to tie the game up at 1-1 at the end of the first inning.&nbsp;

In the fourth inning, another solo home run from the Rangers, this time off the bat of Joc Pederson, gave Texas the lead back.&nbsp; But two innings later, in the bottom of the sixth, another Royal homered for a second game in a row with&nbsp;Mike Yastrzemski tying the game yet again on a solo home run, again with two outs in the inning, making it a 2-2 game at the end of six innings.&nbsp;

In the seventh inning, with the bases loaded, Kansas City took the lead as Jonathan India was hit by a pitch, driving in Pasquantino.&nbsp; Then in the eighth inning, the Royals scored their final two runs on a two run shot from Bobby Witt Jr, the 18th of the season and 100th in the career of the star shortstop, scoring Yastrzemski.&nbsp; John Schreiber was called on in the ninth for the save, walking one batter, but still earning his first save of the season.&nbsp;

Seth Lugo bounced back from back to back rough starts, pitching 6 1/3 innings and giving up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks, while earning a no decision.&nbsp; Angel Zerpa earned the win in relief, improving to 4-1 on the season, pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up one hit and walking one.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Home run #100 for Witt Jr helps lift Royals to 5-2 win over Rangers 

The St. Louis Cardinals continued their rebound from a five game losing skid, winning a second game in a row over the Miami Marlins and securing their three game series with a 7-4 win at Loan Depot Park on Tuesday afternoon.&nbsp;

The Cardinals got the scoring started early with four runs through the first three innings, first getting an RBI single from&nbsp;Iván Herrera in the first inning, driving in Lars Nootbaar following his leadoff single to the game.&nbsp; In the second inning, it was Herrera again driving in two more runs with a single, scoring Thomas Saggese and Nathan Church.&nbsp; In the third, another RBI single, this time from&nbsp;Pedro Pagés, drove in Nolan Gorman to give the Redbirds the 4-0 lead.&nbsp;

The Marlins cut the St. Louis lead in half in the bottom of the fourth inning, an RBI triple by Jakob Marsee scoring Xavier Edwards after his leadoff single, before Marsee scored as&nbsp;Agustín Ramírez reached on a fielders choice.&nbsp; The Cardinals got both runs back in the fifth,&nbsp;Pagés striking and reaching first as Masyn Winn scoring on a passed ball, and a sacrifice bunt by Church driving in Saggese.&nbsp;

Trailing 6-2, Miami again cut the lead to two runs scoring their final runs on a two RBI single from Otto Lopez in the sixth inning with Edwards and Ramirez scoring.&nbsp; In the seventh inning, the Cardinals added their final run with Winn scoring on a sacrifice fly by Saggese after Winn was hit by a pitch to start the inning.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Michael Mcgreevy earned the win, improving to 4-3 on the season, pitching six innings and giving up four runs, just three earned, on six hits with five strikeouts.&nbsp;&nbsp;Riley O'Brien earned his second save with two walks in the ninth and two strikeouts.&nbsp; At the plate, Saggese was 3-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI.&nbsp; Herrera was 2-for-5 with three RBIs, while Winn was 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Cardinals keep winning ways going in 7-4 win over Marlins

The St. Louis Cardinals had to come from behind, but the Redbirds bats came alive to snap a five game losing skid, helping to beat the Miami Marlins on the road in their series opener, winning 8-3 on Monday night at Loan Depot Park.&nbsp;

The Marlins took the lead in the first inning, Otto Lopez hitting a leadoff double and later scoring on a sacrifice fly by Jakob Marsee.&nbsp; In the fourth inning, Miami extended their lead on a solo home run by Eric Wagaman, his eighth of the season, entering the fifth inning leading the Cardinals 2-0 before St. Louis took over the game.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lars Nootbaar opened the scoring for the Cardinals in the fifth with an RBI single, driving in&nbsp;Pedro Pagés after he walked with one out in the inning.&nbsp; The bases wound up loaded after&nbsp;Iván Herrera walked, and after a Marlins pitching change, St. Louis tied up the game on an Alec Burleson single, scoring Nathan Church, and a sacrifice fly by Willson Contreras gave the Redbirds the lead bringing home Nootbaar for the 3-2 lead.&nbsp;

The Marlins tied up the game in the sixth inning as Marsee drove in another run, this time with an RBI double scoring&nbsp;Agustín Ramírez who led off the inning with a double.&nbsp; In the seventh, the Cardinals took the lead back though, Burleson driving in another run with an RBI single, bringing home Herrera who had reached on a fielding error with two outs, to take the 4-3 lead for the Redbirds into the bottom half of the inning.&nbsp;

St. Louis extended the lead in the eighth inning adding an insurance run on an RBI single by&nbsp;Pagés, driving in Nolan Gorman who walked to open the inning, and then added their final three runs in the ninth inning with the first coming on passed ball, Garrett Hampson coming in to score, before Gorman's two run home run drove in Contreras for the final runs of the game.&nbsp;

Matt Svanson earned the win in relief, improving to 2-0 on the season, pitching two innings and giving up one hit while striking out one.&nbsp; At the plate, Burleson was 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs.&nbsp; Gorman was 1-for-4 with a walk, the home run and two RBIs, while Nootbaar was 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Cards snap five game skid as bats break out in win over Marlins

Home runs by&nbsp;Mike Yastrzemski, Vinnie Pasquantino, and Maikel Garcia helped power the Kansas City Royals to a fourth win in a row, beating the Texas Rangers to open a four game series 4-3 on Monday night at Kauffman Stadium.&nbsp;

For the third time this month, Yastrzemski opened the scoring for Kansas City in the first inning with a leadoff home run.&nbsp; With the leadoff home run, Yaz tied Johnny Damon (Sept. 1998) and Alex Gordon (Aug. 2012) for the club record of lead off home runs in a month.&nbsp; Damon (1998) and Gordon (2011) are also tied at five for the most leadoff home runs in a single year

The Rangers tied it up in the second inning, Jonah Heim's RBI single driving in Marcus Semien following his leadoff single to the inning.&nbsp; In the third inning though, another home run blasted the Royals ahead, Pasquantino hitting a two run shot, scoring Bobby Witt Jr who walked to open the inning, and putting Kansas City back ahead 3-1.&nbsp;

In the fifth inning, Garcia extended the lead, leading off the inning with a solo home run for the final Royals run of the game.&nbsp; Texas added a run in the sixth inning, Evan Carter hitting an RBI single and driving in Wyatt Langford following his leadoff single, before cutting the lead to one in the eighth inning with Langford scoring on a groundout by Rowdy Tellez.&nbsp;&nbsp;Carlos Estévez retired the Rangers 1-2-3 in the ninth to earn his 32nd save.&nbsp;

Three homers help power Kansas City to fourth win in a row

After charges were filed against Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice last month for his role in a 2024 offseason multicar crash, the initial thought was his punishment from the NFL wouldn't be far behind.  

Now though, it appears Rice will not face a disciplinary hearing until September 30th.  Rice will go before Sue Robinson, a former US District Judge, who serves as the disciplinary officer jointly appointed by the NFL and NFL Players Association.  

Chiefs Insider Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com says it's rare these cases go before Robinson, with the last case being Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson 

"The thing that's notable about that, is that when Sue Robinson handed down her decision, she determined six games was the suspension, and the NFL didn't like that," Derrick says on the KFEQmunnity show.  "The NFL appealed, which the NFL can do, either side can appeal her ruling, and eventually he ended up with an 11-game suspension because the NFL wanted basically an entire season." 

Derrick says the tricky thing though is, at the end of the day no matter what Robinson rules, the ultimate decision still comes back to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell 

In Watson's case, Goodell appointed someone else to make the decision.  Derrick says in Rice's case, the question comes down to how much does the NFL want a suspension? 

Reportedly, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the NFL initially proposed a double-digit suspension for Rice as well, while the NFLPA, along with Rice's agents and attorney, argued against that asking for a much shorter suspension that better reflects the precedent for a case like this. 

Derrick also points out the NFL may want a case like this to be public, and not behind closed doors like most personal conduct cases, to try to make a point in getting players to understand there will be punishments for street racing  

"You know Rashee Rice could end up finding himself just being the poster boy," Derrick explains.  "I'm curious how the NFL will balance those two, because the fact that at this point they're at an impasse and it's willing to go to the disciplinary officer, the NFL may be willing to go ahead and drag this out for a few months just because they want to send a message." 

Just last week Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was cited for driving 100 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone.  He's been stopped for speeding at least seven other times.  

As it stands, Rice would be available for the first four weeks of the Chiefs regular season, which Derrick points out is big because Kansas City feels they need a player like Rice to beat the Los Angeles Chargers in week one. With one preseason game left to plan the roster, how might that affect it? 

Derrick says with not knowing when Rice will not be available, it certainly adds some uncertainty. 

"There could be a negotiated settlement so you don't know that you're going to have him for one game, zero games, four games, three, it really could be a fairly wide range," Derrick says.  "And then once he's suspended it could be a fairly wide range of how long you are without him, it certainly effects roster construction." 

Derrick says if you're the Chiefs and if you feel you're going to be without Rice for an extended period of time, you may need to keep seven receivers, cutting yourself at another position, or losing a player you like.   

Derrick says it certainly is going to create a little bit of a headache for General Manager Brett Veach in how they build that week one roster and make final decisions. 

<p>By MATT PIKE</p><p>After charges were filed against Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice last month for his role in a 2024 offseason multicar crash, the initial thought was his punishment from the NFL wouldn't be far behind.  </p><p>Now though, it appears Rice will not face a disciplinary hearing until September 30th.  Rice will go before Sue Robinson, a former US District Judge, who serves as the disciplinary officer jointly appointed by the NFL and NFL Players Association.  </p><p>Chiefs Insider Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com says it's rare these cases go before Robinson, with the last case being Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson </p><p>"The thing that's notable about that, is that when Sue Robinson handed down her decision, she determined six games was the suspension, and the NFL didn't like that," Derrick says on the KFEQmunnity show.  "The NFL appealed, which the NFL can do, either side can appeal her ruling, and eventually he ended up with an 11-game suspension because the NFL wanted basically an entire season." </p><p>Derrick says the tricky thing though is, at the end of the day no matter what Robinson rules, the ultimate decision still comes back to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell </p><p>In Watson's case, Goodell appointed someone else to make the decision.  Derrick says in Rice's case, the question comes down to how much does the NFL want a suspension? </p><p>Reportedly, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the NFL initially proposed a double-digit suspension for Rice as well, while the NFLPA, along with Rice's agents and attorney, argued against that asking for a much shorter suspension that better reflects the precedent for a case like this. </p><p>Derrick also points out the NFL may want a case like this to be public, and not behind closed doors like most personal conduct cases, to try to make a point in getting players to understand there will be punishments for street racing  </p><p>"You know Rashee Rice could end up finding himself just being the poster boy," Derrick explains. With Rice punishment in the air, Chiefs Insider says WR could become poster boy

Cody Bellinger drove in three runs, Paul Goldschmidt had three hits against his former team and the New York Yankees beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8-4 on Sunday afternoon for a series sweep at Busch Stadium.

Second baseman Thomas Saggese made two errors in the Yankees' four-run ninth. He threw wildly to first, and leadoff batter José Caballero took second and then third on a passed ball.

Walks to pinch-hitter Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge loaded the bases. Saggese let Bellinger’s grounder get by him for two runs. Judge then scored on a fielder’s choice. Goldschmidt, who played for St. Louis from 2019 through 2024, hit his second double for the final run.

Luke Weaver pitched the final 1 1/3 innings. JoJo Romero, falling to 4-5 on the season, took the loss for the Cardinals.

The Yankees grabbed a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning on run-scoring singles by Jasson Domínguez, Ryan McMahon and Caballero. St. Louis scored two unearned runs in the fourth on a two-out double to right by Saggese. Alec Burleson drove in a run in the fifth to tie it.

Yohel Pozo led off the sixth with a homer to center off Yankees reliver Camilo Doval to put St. Louis up 4-3.&nbsp; As he was rounding the bases following his tiebreaking home run, Pozo not only had tears in his eyes but also thoughts of his son, Paul, and other ill kids at Mercy Children’s Hospital dancing in his mind.

Paul Pozo suffered a series of strokes after being born in March of 2020, and he walked and talked well ahead of when doctors ever thought he would do so. Paul’s painted handprint was on the 34-inch, 31-ounce maple bat used for Sunday’s homer, along with others from children fighting to get better at the nearby hospital.

Those kids playfully asked Pozo to hit them a homer during the catcher’s visit to the hospital last week, and his only promise was that he would give it everything he could against the Yankees.&nbsp;

“The kids asked me if I could hit a homer and I was like, ‘Well, I’m going to try,’ and then when it happens -- as soon as I saw the ball and it was a homer -- I almost started crying running the bases just thinking about it,” Pozo told reporters following the game.&nbsp;

New York tied it at 4 in the seventh when Trent Grishman drew a leadoff walk and scored on Bellinger's sacrifice fly.&nbsp;&nbsp;

St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol was ejected in the seventh. It was his fifth ejection this season. Yankees coach Tanner Swanson was ejected in the fourth inning.

Pozo homers for Cards, but not enough to avoid being swept by Yankees

Another solid start from Ryan Bergert for the Kansas City Royals, ended in yet another no decision as the Royals came from behind thanks to the power of home runs from Jonathan India and Adam Frazier to beat the Chicago White Sox 6-2 for a series sweep on Sunday afternoon.&nbsp;

Bergert gave up the lead early in the first inning, giving up a solo home run to&nbsp;Lenyn Sosa with one out.&nbsp; The rookie settled in after that, and didn't give up another run until the sixth inning after Andrew Benintendi reached second on a fielding error by Frazier.&nbsp; Benintendi scored in the next at bat as Edgar Quero singled off Bergert to drive in the former Royal, giving Chicago the 2-0 lead.&nbsp;

Angel Zerpa replaced Bergert following the single, and got through the remainder of the inning with two strikeouts.&nbsp; Sam Long relieved Zerpa in the seventh inning, which after getting through the top half is where the Royals tied up the game on India's two run home run, driving in Frazier after his two out double as Kansas City rallied back late in the game.&nbsp;

Lucas Erceg replaced Long on the mound to start the eighth inning, and after getting the first two outs put himself in danger with a walk and a double, but punched out Mike Tauchman to end the inning.&nbsp; In the bottom half, Kansas City took the lead, first with Maikel Garcia singling home Bobby Witt Jr, and later scoring on a single by Salvador Perez, before Perez scored on Frazier's two run blast for the final runs.&nbsp;

India, Frazier power Royals to come from behind series win

The New York Yankees muscled up for three homers, Trent Grisham scored a career-high four runs, and Ben Rice matched a career high with seven RBIs in a 12-8 win on Saturday night, securing a eries victory at Busch Stadium over the St. Louis Cardinals.

&nbsp;Grisham singled four times and scored the four runs, and Ryan McMahon hit his first homer since being acquired by the Yankees to overcome a shaky start by Max Fried.

Masyn Winn hit a three-run homer and Nolan Gorman had a two-run shot for St. Louis as Fried yielded multiple homers for the third time this season.

Sonny Gray (allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings as St. Louis lost its fourth in a row.&nbsp; Rice had three of New York’s 15 hits and finished a triple short of the cycle.

Aaron Judge led off the third with his 39th home run, which bounced off the top of the wall and into the front row of the right-field bleachers. Judge, who has played his entire career with the Yankees, has now homered against every other major league team.

He also had an RBI double in the first and drew two walks. Judge hadn’t delivered multiple hits in a game since July 13 against the Cubs.

After putting New York ahead with a three-run homer off Gray in the fourth, Rice added a three-run double off reliever Kyle Leahy in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-5.&nbsp; With a run-scoring single in the seventh, Rice matched his RBI total from July 6, 2024, when he homered three times in a 14-4 win over Boston.

Yankees power back from early deficit to top Cardinals 12-9

Vinnie Pasquantino departed the game early due to a heat related illness, but John Rave stepped in and stepped up in his place, helping the Kansas City Royals to a series clinching win over the Chicago White Sox, winning 6-2 on a hot Saturday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.&nbsp;

It was&nbsp;Mike Yastrzemski though that gave the Royals the lead first, leading off the Kansas City half of the first inning with a solo home run, his 11th of the season to right center field. Bobby Witt Jr singled and stole second in the inning, but three straight outs following the steal ended the inning with just the lone run scored.&nbsp;

In the second inning, Kansas City extended their lead with another one run inning.&nbsp; Randal Grichuk led off with a double, and Nick Loftin walked, before Kyle Isbel reached first on a fielders choice, scoring Grichuk.&nbsp; In the third inning, Rave came through after Witt Jr struck out to begin the inning, hitting his fourth home run of the season to push the Royals lead to 3-0.&nbsp;

In the fifth inning, Kansas City continued their scoring frenzy pushing their lead ahead more with two more runs.&nbsp;&nbsp;Yastrzemski walked to lead off the inning and with one out Rave singled on a bunt, both coming home to score on Maikel Garcia's 32nd double of the season that pushed the Royals lead to 5-0.&nbsp;

Kansas City scored their final run in the sixth inning, an RBI single by Loftin driving in Adam Frazier after his leadoff single to the inning.&nbsp; In the eighth inning with two outs the White Sox scored both their runs on a two RBI double from former Royal&nbsp;Andrew Benintendi, scoring&nbsp;Colson Montgomery who doubled with two outs and Luis Robert Jr who walked.&nbsp;

Daniel Lynch earned the win in relief, improving to 5-2 on the season, pitching two innings and giving up just one hit.&nbsp; In his first start since returning from the injured list, Michael Lorenzen took a no decision pitching four innings while giving up three hits and striking out three while walking two.&nbsp;&nbsp;

At the plate, Rave was 2-for-3 with the home run and one RBI.&nbsp; Grichuk was also 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.&nbsp;&nbsp;Yastrzemski's lone hit on the day was the solo home run to lead off the game, going 1-for-3, walking once and scoring two runs with one RBI.&nbsp;

Rave steps up to help Royals top White Sox 6-2

It was a dramatic scene as Hunter Goodman hit a pinch hit home run in the ninth inning to complete the comeback for the Colorado Rockies, giving them a series win over the St. Louis Cardinals, defeating the Redbirds 6-5 at Busch Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.&nbsp;

The Cardinals took the lead in the second inning with two outs after back to back singles by Lars Nootbaar and Thomas Saggese put runners on and both scored on a double by&nbsp;Pedro Pagés.&nbsp; The Rockies cut the lead to one in the fourth inning, an RBI single by Ezequiel Tovar driving in Tyler Freeman, but St. Louis got that run back in the bottom half of the inning with Nootbaar hitting a solo home run to right center field, putting the Redbirds up 3-1 after four innings.&nbsp;

Braxton Fulford grounded out in the fifth inning, scoring Kyle Karros for the Rockies to again cut the St. Louis lead to one.&nbsp; But again in the bottom half of the inning, the Cardinals got that run back, plus one more putting up two runs on a two run home run by Alec Burleson, bringing home Masyn Winn who singled to open the inning.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Colorado began their comeback in the sixth and seventh innings.&nbsp; Mickey Moniak first hit a solo home run to right center field in the sixth inning, his 18th of the season, before in the seventh inning Fulford again drove in Karros, this time with a sacrifice fly, after Karros doubled earlier in the inning to cut the Cardinals lead to 5-4.&nbsp;

In the ninth inning Karros again got on base, walking to open the inning, and after Brenton Doyle struck out against Cardinals closer JoJo Romero, Goodman was brought on to pinch hit for Fulford,&nbsp; five pitches later, Goodman blasted a sinker over the center-field wall to complete the comeback.

Romero took the loss, falling to 4-4 on the season and blowing his first save, pitching the one inning and giving up the two runs on two hits while striking out three and walking one.&nbsp; At the plate, Burleson was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.&nbsp; Nootbaar was also 2-for-4 with a home run and one RBI.&nbsp;

St. Louis is off on Thursday and will host New York on Friday.&nbsp; Andre Pallante (6-9, 4.95 ERA) takes the mound for the Cardinals against Luis Gil (0-1, 7.27 ERA) for the Yankees.&nbsp; First pitch is at 7:15pm with coverage beginning around 7:05 on KY 102 (102.5 FM).&nbsp;

Comeback victory gives Rockies series win over Cardinals at Busch

The Kansas City Royals came from behind, battling back after giving up five runs in the first inning, but fell giving up a run in the ninth inning, winning the series but dropping the finale to the Washington Nationals 8-7 at Kauffman Stadium.&nbsp;

An early grand slam put the first runs on the board for the Nationals in the first inning, Nathaniel Lowe putting the ball over the right field wall and driving in James Wood, Luis Garcia, and Josh Bell with one out in the inning.&nbsp; Daylen Lile singled following the grand slam then scored in the next at bat on an RBI double by Drew Millas for the final run of the inning putting Washington up 5-0 at the end of their half of the first.&nbsp;

Kansas City cut the lead to three in the bottom half, Vinnie Pasquantino driving in the first run on a groundout and scoring&nbsp;Mike Yastrzemski after he led the inning off with a walk.&nbsp; With two outs Bobby Witt Jr scored the second run on an RBI single by Adam Frazier.&nbsp; The Royals did add one more run in the second inning following a scoreless frame by the Nationals, Witt Jr's RBI single driving in John Rave after his leadoff single to the second.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Leading 5-3 Washington extended their lead in the third inning with an RBI single by Brady House, scoring Lile, and moved farther ahead in the fourth inning on a home run by CJ Abrams.&nbsp; In the bottom half of the fourth, Kansas City again cut into the lead, cutting it to one run on a three run home run from Pasquantino, driving in Yastrzemski and Witt Jr to put the Royals down 7-6 at the end of four innings.&nbsp;

The Royals did finally tie the game in the eighth inning, a sacrifice fly from Witt Jr scoring Tyler Tolbert who pinch ran for Kyle Isbel, but in the ninth inning against closer&nbsp;Carlos Estévez, with two outs, Luis Garcia scored on an RBI single by Lile.&nbsp; In the bottom half, Kansas City did get the tying run to third base with two outs, but Tolbert grounded into a force out to end the game.&nbsp;

Estévez took the loss, falling to 4-5 on the season, pitching just the one inning and giving up the one run on two hits while striking out one and walking one.&nbsp; At the plate, Witt Jr was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.&nbsp; Pasquantino was 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, and four RBIs.

Royals win series but drop finale to Nationals 8-7

As "Closing Time" blared from the speakers, the traditional final song of Training Camp, the Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up their time in St. Joseph.

                    </figure><p>By MATT PIKE</p><p>As "Closing Time" blared from the speakers, the traditional final song of Training Camp, the Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up their time in St. Joseph. </p><p>Head Coach Andy Reid thanked everyone at Missouri Western State University for another successful camp on the St. Joseph campus</p><p>"The people up here have been phenomenal," Reid tells reporters following practice.  "They feed us, they house us, they baby us, they keep this field looking groomed like they do, and the facility cleaned up, and so we appreciate that."</p><p>Reid says the team really attacked this camp with the right frame of mind</p><p>"I mentioned it to them last night that there wasn't one of those days where we had a hiccup day, where everything was just not right, the biorhythms were down, we didn't have one of those," Reid explains.</p><p>While coming to St. Joseph might not be for some on the team, Patrick Mahomes says he actually likes coming here for camp</p><p>"It's like the best practice fields that you can possibly have and the weather kind of held off pretty well, except for like one day, it was pretty good weather all camp long," Mahomes says.  "Even though the dorms, I could do without the dorms, but everything else like I have fun out here and I'm excited now to get home and see my kids. but at the same time you kind of get away and you focus just on football and it kind of locks you in for whenever you go back you're in football season and you're not in that offseason."</p><p>Mahomes spent much of the final practice in St. Joseph during Chiefs Training Camp with the scout team, and not in his usual spot with the starters. </p><p>Early indication from Reid is that Mahomes, along with some other starters, may not play in Friday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. </p><p>Mahomes says he always wants to play, but at the end of the day he trusts Reid</p><p>"He has a reason for everything that he does, I'll be ready to play this week and if I get to play I'll be ready to go and if I don't, I'll be ready to go again the next week, and if I'm not I'll be just as energized on the sideline as I would be if I was playing in the game," Mahomes says.  "And so, I trust in Coach Reid fully, and so whatever his decision is I'll be ready to go out there and get the most I can out of it."</p><p>The Chiefs and Seahawks kick off at 9pm on Friday, pregame will air at 8 on Q Country 92.7.
