The Kansas City Royals managed just two hits, and three baserunners overall on a night where St. Joseph's Noah Cameron also struggled on the mound as the Royals fell to the Chicago White Sox 7-0 on Monday night in the opener of a three game series
Chicago scored three runs on four hits in the first inning. Edgar Quero hit a shot into the gap in left-center field to score Chase Meidroth from first to open the scoring. Lenyn Sosa followed with a hit into the right-field gap for back-to-back doubles. Curtis Mead added Chicago’s third double for his third RBI of the season and a 3-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Korey Lee and Brooks Baldwin hit back to back home runs off Cameron. Sosa drove in the final run of the game for the White Sox in the seventh inning off Daniel Lynch, an RBI single scoring Miguel Vargas.
Cameron fell to 7-6 on the season with the loss, giving up six runs in five innings on eight hits. With the Royals offensive struggles, it was Mike Yastrzemski leading the way at the plate going 1-for-2 with a walk being the only player to reach base twice.
Kansas City looks for better luck on Tuesday against Chicago. Michael Lorenzen (5 - 8, 4.50 ERA) takes the mound for the Royals against Martín Pérez (1 - 3, 2.51 ERA) for the White Sox. First pitch is at 6:40pm, pregame coverage begins at 6 on KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM).
