A breakout star at Nebraska over the last two seasons, former St. Joseph Mustangs infielder Dylan Carey is getting his shot with a professional team.

Carey signed a free agent deal with the New York Mets following the Major League Baseball draft.&nbsp;The shortstop was the Mustangs' MVP in 2022.&nbsp; This past season,&nbsp; &nbsp;Carey won the Brooks Wallace Award, given to the best shortstop in the country.&nbsp; The Cornhuskers' shortstop was also the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
