Wide receiver Rashee Rice is back with the team this Chiefs Training Camp after missing offseason activities while spending time in jail for a probation violation.
Rice describes his jail stint as a "learning experience" and a "reality check" says he wants the world to know he's focused on being the best player and teammate possible this season.
"I'm 100% locked in on what's going on now with the team," Rice told reporters after practice. "I'm ready to go out there and dominate, and I've got a good group of brotherhood behind me."
Rice also spent the offseason recovering from knee surgery, some rehab alongside Patrick Mahomes. After initially working back slowly, Rice has been a full go during practice since last week, appearing in his first 11-on-11, and appears ready for the season.
However, the former second-round pick hopes his positivity will shine through to the public after the first half of his year was overshadowed by a dark cloud.
"I would say I'm a positive guy," Rice says. "I'm a great person to feed off as far as energy. A smiling guy mostly, at all times, unless it's time for work, then I'm serious. And then I'm a father, so I take the most responsibility in being a good father to my boys."
After recording career highs in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns as a rookie, Rice has appeared in just 12 games across 2024 and 2025.
An emerging battle during Chiefs Training Camp has been at right tackle, searching for who will replace Jawaan Taylor this season.
While Jaylon Moore came into the offseason as the favorite, undrafted rookie Khalil Benson has emerged as a name who could take the job as well in the new yar.
Moore says the battle aside, everyone in the offensive line room is pushing each other to be better each and everyday during camp.
Regardless of what the depth chart looks like, and how everything shakes out" Moore explains. " I mean it's good for him (Benson), it's good for me as well, we're all pushing each other in that room."
Moore was listed as the top right tackle with Benson behind him on the Chiefs first unofficial depth chart ahead of Saturday’s preseason game.
The Chiefs practice tomorrow at 9:15am. Two practices remain this week ahead of the first preseason matchup Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams.
