The St. Louis Cardinals losing skid moved to five games as the Milwaukee Brewers top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski put on a showcase in his major league debut, helping the Brew Crew drop the Redbirds 6-0 on Thursday evening.&nbsp;

Misiorowski pitched just five innings, but gave up no hits to the Cardinals in that span, walking four and striking out five.&nbsp; Misirowski did take the mound in the sixth inning, but after three pitches to Victor Scott II, leading to a 3-0 count, the Brewers number four prospect rolled his ankle on the mound and was pulled from the game by trainers and replaced by&nbsp;&nbsp;Nick Mears.

The young pitcher did leave the game with the lead however.&nbsp; The Brewers opened the scoring in the second inning, a single by&nbsp;Brice Turang driving in Isaac Collins, before extending the lead even more in the fifth inning putting up their final five runs.

Joey Ortiz doubled to score&nbsp;Turang who singled earlier in the inning.&nbsp; A single by Sal Frelick drove in two more runs as Caleb Durbin, who also singled earlier, and Ortiz came home, before the final two runs scored on a two run home run by&nbsp;Jackson Chourio to center field, giving the Brewers the 6-0 lead.&nbsp;

Sonny Gray took the loss for the Cardinals, falling to 7-2 on the season, giving up all six runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one over 4 1/3 innings.&nbsp; At the plate St. Louis managed just three hits, with one hit a piece coming from Willson Contreras, Nolan Arenado, and Alec Burleson.&nbsp; Contreras also walked.

St. Louis looks to snap their losing streak as the series against Milwaukee continues tomorrow.&nbsp; Erick Fedde (3-5, 3.54 ERA) takes the mound for the Cardinals against&nbsp;Freddy Peralta (5-4, 2.69 ERA) for the Brewers.&nbsp; First pitch is at 7:10pm, pregame will be joined at 7 on KY 102 (102.5 FM).

Cards drop fifth straight losing 6-0 as Brewers Misiorowski shines in debut

The Kansas City Royals contained the New York Yankees explosive offense, but a late throwing error by Lucas Erceg proved costly as the Royals dropped a pitchers duel with the Bronx bombers, losing 1-0 at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday evening.&nbsp;

Both starting pitchers, Seth Lugo for the Royals and Will Warren for the Yankees, pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up minimal hits, Lugo allowing just two while Warren allowed four, and also giving up minimal baserunners with Lugo walking three and Warren walking one.&nbsp; Angel Zerpa replaced Lugo in the sixth, but didn't throw a single pitch before the game was delayed by rain.&nbsp;

The delay lasted less than 30 minutes, and Zerpa returned to the mound, pitching 1 1/3 innings of relief giving up no hits and striking out two before he was replaced by Erceg in the eighth inning.&nbsp; Erceg surrendered a single to Pablo Reyes, who advanced to second on a groundout by Trent Grisham.&nbsp; After Ben Rice walked, Paul Goldschmidt hit a single, which Vinnie Pasquantino could not field cleanly and get to Erceg in time, as Erceg turned to see Reyes stranded between third and home, he gunned the ball to Freddy Fermin who could not field it cleanly, allowing Reyes to score.&nbsp;

Kansas City managed no more hits the rest of the way, handing Erceg the loss, dropping him to 1-2 on the season, pitching one inning and giving up one run unearned on two hits, walking one and striking out one.&nbsp; At the plate, five Royals managed one hit a piece, led by Nick Loftin who was 1-for-1 with two walks.

Royals drop pitchers duel 1-0 to Yankees, swept in season series

For a second consecutive night, the New York Yankees got to a pitcher in the Royals starting rotation who was having a stellar start to his season, as New York won 6-3 at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday evening.&nbsp;

With the loss, the Royals are now 0-5 against the Yankees on the season, after losing all three games in the Bronx April 14-16th.&nbsp; New York remains the only team this season that has swept Kansas City, and has another shot at doing it tomorrow on their home turf.&nbsp;

With Kris Bubic on the mound for the Royals for the first time since June 1st against Detroit, it didn't look like he missed a beat through the first inning, going 1-2-3, but in the second inning the Yankees lineup got to the left hander for five runs to take a big lead early in the game.&nbsp;

After Cody Bellinger led off the inning with a triple and Jazz Chisolm Jr walked, Anthony Volpe grounded into a force out with Bellinger scoring while Chisolm was out at second.&nbsp; Trent Grisham grounded out for a second out, but then DJ LeMahieu walked and Austin Wells doubled, bringing home Volpe, before both LeMahieu and Wells scored on a single by Paul Goldschmidt, who moved to second on a throw home.&nbsp; Goldschmidt scored the final run of the inning on a single by Ben Rice.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Royals lose second consecutive matchup to Yankees 6-3

The St. Joseph Mustangs continued their unbeaten run in MINK league play, beating the Chillicothe Mudcats on Wednesday evening 8-3 at Phil Welch Stadium.&nbsp;

The Mustangs fell behind first though, with the Mudcats opening the scoring in the second inning,&nbsp;Derin Douchet hitting a single to third base and scoring&nbsp;Tanner Sears.&nbsp; St. Joseph took the lead in the next inning, scoring four runs in the bottom of the third inning.&nbsp;

Savannah alum Truman Bodenhausen tied up the game with an RBI single into right field, scoring Lafayette alum Jayden Little and advancing Tyler Gundelfinger to third base.&nbsp; Gundelfinger scored on a double by Darius Freeman, and then the lead extended on a groundout by another Lafayette alum Brayden Luikart, driving in Bodenhausen.&nbsp; Jack Mosh drove in the final run of the frame with a double, bringing home Freeman for the 4-1 lead.&nbsp;

The Mustangs added one more run in the fifth inning on an RBI double by Dom Felix, driving in Freeman, before the Mudcats added one more run the next inning.&nbsp; A groundout by&nbsp;John Spoto scored&nbsp;J. Pinkknee, St. Joseph again answered Chillicothe's run with a multi run inning, scoring three runs in the seventh inning.&nbsp;

The Cardinals did open the scoring in the game, and held the lead through the first two innings.&nbsp; Willson Contreras singled in the first inning to drive in Masyn Winn, who had singled earlier in the inning, to open the scoring.&nbsp; St. Louis extended the lead, and scored their final run, in the second inning on a solo home run by Yohel Pozo.

The Blue Jays tied up the game in the third inning though, first cutting the lead in half on a single by Bo Bichette that drove in&nbsp;Tyler Heineman.&nbsp; A sacrifice fly by George Springer later in the inning scored&nbsp;Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for the tying run.&nbsp; &nbsp;In the fourth inning, Bichette's sacrifice fly brought home&nbsp;Myles Straw for the go ahead run, and the lead was extended in the following at bat on a single by Guerrero Jr, scoring&nbsp;Jonatan Clase.

Toronto scored their final run in the fifth inning on a solo home run by&nbsp;Ernie Clement off of Cardinals starter Matthew Liberatore, his fourth home run of the season.

Cards swept by Jays with 5-2 loss ahead of big NL Central road series

The St. Louis Cardinals battled from behind, but ran out of steam and fell just short of a comeback, losing to the Toronto Blue Jays 10-9 on Tuesday evening at Busch Stadium.&nbsp;

The Blue Jays opened the scoring in the first on one big hit as&nbsp;Andrés Giménez hit a three run home run to right field, scoring&nbsp;Bo Bichette and Alejandro Kirk.&nbsp; Toronto extended that lead to four runs in the fourth inning, an Alan Roden single driving in George Springer.&nbsp; The Cardinals though, tied up the game in the bottom half of the inning.&nbsp;

Brendan Donovan was hit by a pitch to open the inning.&nbsp; After back to back singles by Alec Burleson and Nolan Arenado with one out, Arenado's single driving in Donovan, Nolan Gorman blasted a three run home run, his third home run of the season, to tie up the game at four runs a piece.

Cards fight but are unable to comback falling 10-9 to Jays

In a tough test against the power hitting lineup of the New York Yankees, St. Joseph's Noah Cameron saw his first rough start at the major league level as the Kansas City Royals fell 10-2 in their series opener at Kauffman Stadium Tuesday evening.&nbsp;

Cameron started the game getting Paul Goldschmidt to ground out, but after walking Trent Grisham suffered at the hands of Aaron Judge, who slugged a two run home run 469 feet to left field, landing on top of the Royals Hall of Fame that gave the Yankees a quick lead.&nbsp; The Royals did cut the lead in half in the second inning, Jac Caglianone grounding out and driving in Vinnie Pasquantino, but afterwards the Royals would not score again until the sixth inning.&nbsp;

Cameron gave up another home run in the fourth inning for the Yankees to extend the lead, a three run home run to Austin Wells that scored&nbsp;Jasson Domínguez and DJ LeMahieu. Cameron left the mound with two outs in the sixth, for his shortest outing since being called, leaving Jazz Chisolm Jr. on second base after he doubled earlier in the inning.&nbsp; Cameron was replaced by Taylor Clarke.&nbsp;

Cameron would wind up charged with one more run, as Clarke allowed Chisolm to score, giving up a double to Wells, who also drove in&nbsp;LeMahieu who was walked by Clarke.&nbsp; &nbsp;Back to back singled by Goldschmidt and Grisham brought home Wells and another single by Judge scored Goldschmidt.&nbsp; Cody Bellinger hit the fourth consecutive single off Clarke to drive in Grisham to cap off the five run inning for New York.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In the bottom half of the sixth inning was when the Royals scored their final run, and the final run of the game, when Jonathan India hit a solo home run to center field to lead off the inning.

Cameron fell to 2-2 on the season, pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up six runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out six.&nbsp; At the plate, Salvador Perez led the way going 2-for-4.&nbsp; India was 1-for-4 with the home run and a walk.&nbsp;

After playing their first seven games of the season at home, the St. Joseph Mustangs hit the road for the first time in 2025, and shutout the Sedalia Bombers 6-0 on Tuesday evening.&nbsp;

After four scoreless innings, the Mustangs opened the scoring in the fifth, Jack Mosh scoring as Savannah alum Truman Bodenhausen reached first on a fielders choice.&nbsp; In the sixth inning, St. Joseph extended the lead with two more runs, a Dom Felix sacrifice fly driving in Darius Freeman before Lafayette alum Brayden Luikart scored on a double by Mosh.&nbsp;

Northwest Missouri State pitcher Jaren Guck threw six scoreless innings, striking out five and walking one while giving up four hits, and was replaced by East Buchanan alum Bronco Whitt, who struck out one and gave up one hit in the seventh inning.&nbsp; In the top of the eighth, the Mustangs added two more runs, Justin George singling and bringing home Mosh and Felix for the 5-0 lead.&nbsp;

Diego De Santiago pitched the bottom of the eighth, striking out two batters.&nbsp; St. Joseph scored the final run in the ninth inning as Luikart singled to drive in Logan Miller.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cade Perkins closed out the game on the mound, striking out one and giving up one hit.&nbsp;

In the ninth though, with closer Ryan Helsley on the mound,&nbsp;Jonatan Clase hit his first home run of the season to tie up the game, giving Helsley his fifth blown save of the season and forcing extra innings after St. Louis could not answer in the bottom half.&nbsp; In the tenth, off reliever Phil Maton, Kirk doubled driving in Barger for what would end up being the winning run, dropping Maton to 0-2 on the season.&nbsp;

Cards come back but fall in extras to Blue Jays 5-4

The rivalry between Northwest Missouri State and Pittsburg State will make its way back to Kansas City this fall, this time on the Kansas side of the border.&nbsp;

The Bearcats and Gorillas have met in Kansas City on 13 previous occasions, first from 2002 to 2013 and then again in 2019, at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Seven of those drawing an attendance of at least 20,000 fans.&nbsp; The Bearcats were 10-3 in the matchups at Arrowhead Stadium.&nbsp;

Northwest and Pittsburgh State have signed a two-year contract for 2025 and 2026 to play matchups at Children's Mercy Park . The 2025 match-up was originally scheduled as a Pitt State home game, while the 2026 contest will replace a NWMSU home game.&nbsp; The matchup will take place on November 15th, kicking off at 1:30pm.&nbsp;&nbsp;More information and details will be announced soon.

Children's Mercy Park was home to the NCAA Division II National Championship Game for four seasons, from 2014-2017. Northwest captured the program's fifth and sixth national titles in the venue with a 34-7 victory over Shepherd on Dec. 19, 2015 and a 29-3 triumph over North Alabama on Dec. 17, 2016. The 2015 national title game drew an NCAA Division II Championship Game record 16,181 fans.

Northwest and Pittsburg State rivalry returning to Kansas City this fall

The St. Louis Cardinals won the series, but were unable to slow down the high powered offense of the Los Angeles Dodgers to get a sweep, losing 7-3 at Busch Stadium on Sunday afternoon.&nbsp;

The Dodgers got to Cardinals rookie pitcher Michael McGreevy early on, scoring three runs in the second inning.&nbsp; Former Cardinal Tommy Edman singled home Max Muncy for the opening score, before scoring himself on a triple by&nbsp;Hyeseong Kim, the first of the season for the Dodgers rookie, also driving in Will Smith.&nbsp; Edman drove in another run in the fourth inning, scoring Smith, with a double to give Los Angeles a 4-0 lead through four innings.&nbsp;

Masyn Winn got the Cardinals on the board in the fifth inning.&nbsp; Back to back singles by Alec Burleson and&nbsp;Pedro Pagés opened the inning before Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw got Jose Barrero to pop out and Lars Nootbaar to strike out.&nbsp; But with two outs, Winn doubled to left field, driving in Burleson for the score.&nbsp;Pagés wound up stranded at third base, and Winn at second base, when Kershaw struck out Brendan Donovan.

A sacrifice fly by Burleson in the sixth inning added another run, scoring Contreras who doubled to open the inning, and had moved to third on a single by&nbsp;Iván Herrera.&nbsp; The Dodgers got that run back in the top of the seventh inning, a solo home run by Mookie Betts.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Contreras cut into the Dodgers lead as the Cardinals scored for a third consecutive inning in the bottom of the seventh.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ryan Vilade walked to start the inning, and after a flyout by Nootbaar and lineout by Winn, moved to third base on a single by Donovan, before scoring on the single by Contreras.&nbsp; &nbsp;

But in the eighth, Los Angeles put the game away getting all the insurance they would need.&nbsp; Edman drove in his third run of the game on a sacrifice fly, scoring&nbsp;Teoscar Hernández with the bases loaded.&nbsp;&nbsp;Enrique Hernández walked to reload the bases, however they would not reload as Muncy scored the final Dodgers run on a passed ball.&nbsp;

Cardinals unable to slow high powered Dodgers offense in 7-3 loss

Michael Lorenzen turned things around on the mound, Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr homered, and top prospect Jac Caglianone had a breakout game at the plate as the Kansas City Royals avoided being swept by the Chicago White Sox, winning 7-5 at Guaranteed Rate Field on Sunday afternoon.&nbsp;

Lorenzen's lone mistake on the mound gave the White Sox the lead in the first inning.&nbsp; Lorenzen walked&nbsp;Mike Tauchman before giving up a two run home run to Miguel Vargas with two outs to give Chicago a 2-0 lead.&nbsp; After the home run, Lorenzen retired 16 of the next 17 batters he faced, only walking Tim Elko in the third inning.

Kansas City tied up the game in the fourth inning.&nbsp; With one out, Vinnie Pasquantino singled, and was brought home the very next at bat as on the second pitch he saw, Perez hit a two run home run to left field, his fifth home run of the season, to knot the game up at 2-2.

The Royals took the lead in the seventh inning.&nbsp; Mark Canha pinch hit for John Rave and singled to left field.&nbsp; Canha advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kyle Isbel, and was then pinch ran for by Drew Waters.&nbsp; Waters came in to score as Jonathan India doubled down the third base line, and India scored to extend the lead more on a single by Maikel Garcia, pushing the Kansas City lead to 4-2.&nbsp;

Three more insurance runs scored in the top of the ninth for the Royals, the inning starting with a walk to Waters.&nbsp; Waters stole second base, and advanced to third on a groundout by Isbel, before scoring on a single by India.&nbsp; India would score when Witt Jr hit a line drive two run home run to left center, his eighth of the year, giving the Royals a 7-2 lead.&nbsp;

With the save situation erased, Kansas City called on new reliever Trevor Richards to close out the game, but Richards would not record an out, loading the bases with a walk to Tauchman and back to back singles to Chase Meidroth and Andrew Benintendi.&nbsp; A bases loaded walk to Vargas cut the Royals lead to four, and manager Matt Quatraro called on closer&nbsp;Carlos Estévez now facing a save situation.&nbsp;

Estévez though also struggled to contain the White Sox rally, giving up a single to Edgar Quero scoring Meidroth to cut the lead to three.&nbsp; Austin Slater lined out against Estévez and the Royals closer got a second out as Luis Robert Jr grounded into a force out at second, beating out the double play as Quero was out at second and Benintendi scored.&nbsp;&nbsp;Estévez reloaded the bases, walking Josh Rojas, but struck out Elko for his 19th save of the season.&nbsp;

With his six strong innings, Lorenzen improved to 4-6 on the season, giving up two runs on one hit, walking two and striking out seven.&nbsp; Caglianone was 4-for-4 on the day with a double and three singles, improving his average from .095 to .240 since being promoted.&nbsp; India was also 3-for-5 on the day with two RBI's and two runs scored.&nbsp;

Perez, Witt Jr homer to help Royals avoid sweep with 7-5 win over White Sox

The St. Louis Cardinals secured a win over the powerhouse of the National League West, thanks to Nolan Arenado's walk off hit, the Redbirds winning 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium.&nbsp;

It was a pitchers duel between both teams as starting pitchers Erick Fedde (5 1/3 innings) and&nbsp;Yoshinobu Yamamoto (six innings) combined to give up just eight hits.&nbsp; Fedde did also walk four, and struck out two, while Yamamoto struck out nine.&nbsp; Things continued with both bullpens as Dodgers reliever&nbsp;Alex Vesia pitched a hitless seventh, while Steven Matz for the Cardinals gave up just two hits over 1 2/3 innings and Kyle Leahy gave up a single hit and a walk in one inning.&nbsp;

It wasn't until the eighth inning against&nbsp;Ben Casparius the Cardinals were able to get on the board.&nbsp; Masyn Winn and Brendan Donovan hit back to back singles with one out after Lars Nootbaar opened the inning with a pop out to third base.&nbsp; Casparius got Willson Contreras to fly out to right field for a second out, but Alec Burleson singled driving in Winn to give St. Louis the 1-0 lead.&nbsp;

Caparius avoided anymore damage, getting&nbsp;Iván Herrera to pop out to shortstop to end the inning, and it appeared he would get a no decision as the Dodgers tied things up in the top of the ninth.&nbsp; Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts hit back to back singles, Ohtani advancing to third base on Betts single.&nbsp; Freddie Freeman struck out facing Ryan Helsley, but a wild pitch allowed Ohtani to come home to score tying up the game.&nbsp;

Royals get outslugged by White Sox falling 4-1

A rainy morning didn't keep the St. Joseph Mustangs from playing their annual game against some of their prestigious alumni, and it was the young bucks that took home a win, winning 9-3 over the Mustangs Alumni at Phil Welch Stadium.&nbsp;

Current Mustangs manager and Benton alum Johnny Coy playing for the alumni, opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single, driving in Mid-Buchanan alum Brady Holden for the early lead.&nbsp; In the bottom half, the Mustangs took the lead back with a three run frame, Savannah alum Truman Bodenhausen driving in Lafayette alum Brayden Luikart and Logan Miller with a single and&nbsp;Tyler Gundelfinger reaching first on an error and scoring Jack Mosh.

Dale Wheeler narrowed cut the Mustangs lead to one in the third inning, driving in Lafayette alum Ike Book for the alumni.&nbsp; But in the bottom half of the inning, four runs scored by the Mustangs, Bodenhausen again driving in Luikart on a groundout, before a double by Gundelfinger drove in Justin George and Mosh.&nbsp; Gundelfinger later scored on a single by Dom Felix, pushing the Mustangs lead to 7-2.&nbsp;

T.J Dailey drove in the final run for the alumni in the seventh inning, scoring Holden.&nbsp; In the eighth, the Mustangs scored their final two runs.&nbsp; A single by&nbsp;Diego De Santiago scoring Gundelfinger, while&nbsp;Caden Carter rounded the bases on a throwing error for the final run.&nbsp;

Gundelfinger was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI's in the win, walking once and stealing a base.&nbsp; Luikart was also 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored in the win over the alumni.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The win for the Mustangs ended a seven game homestand to begin the season for the Mustangs.&nbsp; They hit the road for the first time next on Tuesday, taking on the&nbsp;Sedalia Bombers.

By MATT PIKEA rainy morning didn't keep the St. Joseph Mustangs from playing their annual game against some of their prestigious alumni, and it was the young bucks that took home a win, winning 9-3 over the Mustangs Alumni at Phil Welch Stadium.&nbsp;Current Mustangs manager and Benton alum Johnny Coy playing for the alumni, opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single, driving in Mid-Buchanan alum Brady Holden for the early lead.&nbsp; In the bottom half, the Mustangs took the lead back with a three run frame, Savannah alum Truman Bodenhausen driving in Lafayette alum Brayden Luikart and Logan Miller with a single and&nbsp;Tyler Gundelfinger reaching first on an error and scoring Jack Mosh.Dale Wheeler narrowed cut the Mustangs lead to one in the third inning, driving in Lafayette alum Ike Book for the alumni.&nbsp; But in the bottom half of the inning, four runs scored by the Mustangs, Bodenhausen again driving in Luikart on a groundout, before a double by Gundelfinger drove in Justin George and Mosh.&nbsp; Gundelfinger later scored on a single by Dom Felix, pushing the Mustangs lead to 7-2.&nbsp;T.J Dailey drove in the final run for the alumni in the seventh inning, scoring Holden.&nbsp; In the eighth, the Mustangs scored their final two runs.&nbsp; A single by&nbsp;Diego De Santiago scoring Gundelfinger, while&nbsp;Caden Carter rounded the bases on a throwing error for the final run.&nbsp;Gundelfinger was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI's in the win, walking once and stealing a base.&nbsp; Luikart was also 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored in the win over the alumni.&nbsp;&nbsp;The win for the Mustangs ended a seven game homestand to begin the season for the Mustangs.&nbsp; They hit the road for the first time next on Tuesday, taking on the&nbsp;Sedalia Bombers.You can follow Matt on X @KfeqMatt.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

The St. Joseph Mustangs scored another big win in MINK league play to stay undefeated in league play, beating the Chillicothe Mudcats 11-4 at Phil Welch Stadium on Friday evening.&nbsp;

The Mustangs started off in dominant fashion too, shutting out the Mudcats through the first five innings.&nbsp; St. Joseph got on the board in the first inning thanks to Benton alum Chris Coy singling into left field, driving in Lafayette alum Brayden Luikart and Dom Felix for a quick 2-0 lead.&nbsp;

Things broke open in the fourth inning as the Mustangs put up four runs, the biggest coming on the first home run of the season in St. Joseph, courtesy of Northwest Missouri State's Parker Griffith, a solo shot to left field.&nbsp; A sacrifice fly by Darius Freeman later in the inning extended the lead more, driving in&nbsp;Tyler Gundelfinger, before Felix singled to left to bring home Logan Miller and Lafayette alum Jayden Little, pushing the lead to 6-0.&nbsp;

Three more runs scored in the fifth inning, first with Little driving in Griffith on an RBI single.&nbsp; Little later scored on a single from Freeman, which also drove in Miller and gave St. Joseph a 9-0 lead at the end of five innings.&nbsp;

Chillicothe found their way onto the scoreboard in the sixth inning with a three run frame, hitting the second home run of the game as&nbsp;Luke DeWitt, who also pitched two innings of relief for the Mudcats, hit a two run home run, scoring&nbsp;John Spoto.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jordi Ventura came across home later in the inning on a groundout by&nbsp;Ethan Murakoshi, cutting the Mustangs lead to 9-3.&nbsp;

But St. Joseph never wavered, adding the final two runs in the seventh inning.&nbsp; Freeman's sacrifice fly scored Miller, for Freeman's fourth RBI of the game.&nbsp; Later in the inning Felix doubled to drive in Luikart for the final Mustangs run.&nbsp; Over the last two games, Freeman has now driven in nine runs, after driving in five on Thursday against Jefferson City.

Murakoshi singled to left field in the eighth inning for the Mudcats, driving in&nbsp;Aiden Baerenklau for the final run of the game.

Aron Harrington got the win for the Mustangs, pitching five shutout innings, striking out six and giving up two hits while walking three.&nbsp; At the plate, Felix was 3-for-4 with three RBI's and a walk.&nbsp; Griffith was 1-for-2 with the home run and two walks, he also stole two bases in the win.&nbsp; Freeman was 1-for-4 with the four RBI's.&nbsp;

The Mustangs have one more home game tomorrow, before they hit the road for the first time on Tuesday.&nbsp; It will be the annual matchup between the St. Joseph Mustangs and the Mustangs alumni on Saturday at Phil Welch Stadium.&nbsp; First pitch is at 7pm, gates open at 5:30.

Another big win as Mustangs top Chillicothe 11-4

While Cardinals fans welcomed back former utility player Tommy Edman with a standing ovation, the St. Louis bats and excellent pitching spoiled their former teammates return as the Redbirds shutout the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 on Friday night at Busch Stadium.&nbsp;

Rain delayed the game, which was supposed to begin at 7:15, and the teams had to wait until just after 8:30 to get started.&nbsp; After a scoreless first, the Cardinals got on the board in the second, catcher Pedro Pagés hitting a two run home run to left field, driving in Nolan Arenado who singled earlier in the inning.&nbsp;

St. Louis extended the lead in the fifth inning adding two more runs on an RBI single by Brendan Donovan, scoring&nbsp;Pagés and Lars Nootbaar who both walked in the inning.&nbsp; The final run in the eighth came courtesy of another home run, this time by a former catcher Willson Contreras.

Sonny Gray was again excellent on the mound for the Cardinals, earning the win and improving to 7-1 on the season, pitching 6 1/3 innings and giving up eight hits while striking out five in the shutout effort.&nbsp; Over his last four starts, Gray has pitched 25 1/3 innings, giving up just three runs and striking out 30.

At the plate, Arenado led the way for the Cardinals going 3-for 4 with one run scored.&nbsp;&nbsp; Pagés was 1-for-2 with two RBI's and two runs scored while walking once, while Contreras was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the win.&nbsp;

St. Louis and Los Angeles continue their series tomorrow.&nbsp; Erick Fedde (3-5, 3.82 ERA) takes the mound for the Cardinals against&nbsp;Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-4, 2.39 ERA) for the Dodgers.&nbsp; First pitch is at 1:15pm, pregame will be joined at 1:05 on KY 102 (102.5 FM).

Cardinals shut out Dodgers 5-0 in Edman's return to Busch Stadium

The Kansas City Royal got back to back home runs from Maikel Garcia and Vinnie Pasquantino to take a lead in the third inning, but with the game tied, their bullpen surrendered five runs in the eighth inning as they fell to the Chicago White Sox 7-2 at Guaranteed Rate Field.&nbsp;

Kansas City first fell behind in the bottom of the second inning when Luis Robert Jr singled to drive in&nbsp;Joshua Palacios.&nbsp; In the third inning, Garcia and Pasquantino homered after Jonathan India and Bobby Witt Jr struck out to open the inning, giving the Royals a 2-1 lead.&nbsp;

The White Sox tied up the game against Royals starter Seth Lugo in the fifth inning, a solo home run by&nbsp;Mike Tauchman, but Lugo was able to get out of the inning the rest of the way without giving them the lead, getting Chase Meidroth to line out and former Royal Andrew Benintendi to ground out.&nbsp;

Lugo was replaced by Daniel Lynch in the sixth, and Lynch pitched 1 1/3 innings before giving way to Jonathan Bowlan in the seventh with one out and a runner on.&nbsp; Bowlan got Tim Elko to ground out but walked Tauchman, before striking out Meidroth to end the inning.&nbsp; He would not get so lucky in the eighth inning.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Benintendi doubled to lead the inning off, and was replaced by another former Royal in pinch runner Michael A Taylor.&nbsp; Bowlan got Miguel Vargas to ground out, but then issued back to back walks to Austin Slater and Kyle Teel to load the bases.&nbsp; A single from Robert Jr drove in two runs as Taylor and Slater scored.&nbsp; Josh Rojas reached first on a forceout, but the bases were reloaded as Bowlan walked Elko, and was then replaced by Taylor Clarke.&nbsp;

Clarke would not fare much better, immediately allowing Teel to score on a wild pitch.&nbsp; Rojas came home to score as Tauchman reached first on a fielding error by Garcia, and then Elko scored on a wild pickoff attempt from Clarke for the final run.&nbsp;

Bowlan took the loss, falling to 1-1, pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up five runs, three earned, giving up two hits and walking four batters while striking out one.&nbsp; Bobby Witt Jr and Drew Waters both led at the plate for the Royals going 2-for-4.

Royals bullpen collapses in 7-2 loss to Chicago White Sox

The St. Joseph Mustangs bounced back from their first loss of the season in a big way, scoring a 12-2 run rule win over the Jefferson City Renegades on Thursday afternoon at Phil Welch Stadium.&nbsp; It's the second run rule win of the season, after the Mustangs beat the Nevada Griffons 11-1 in seven innings to open MINK league play last Saturday.&nbsp;

The Mustangs opened the scoring in the bottom of the first to take the lead as Dom Felix singled to drive in Darius Freeman.&nbsp; But in the second inning, the Renegades took their only lead of the game, scoring their only runs, as Dane Gray hit a single bringing home two runs as&nbsp;Alex DiGicianto and&nbsp;P.J. Green scored to take the 2-1 lead.&nbsp;

St. Joseph began to take the game over in the fifth inning though, first scoring three runs, Freeman driving in his first of five runs on the day on a single when Logan Miller scored.&nbsp; A groundout by Felix drove in another run, bringing home Trevor McCollum, and Freeman scored on a single by Jack Mosh, flipping the lead to 4-2 Mustangs.&nbsp;

Two more runs scored in the sixth, courtesy of Freeman reaching on an error, Miller and Savannah alum Truman Bodenhausen coming across to score.&nbsp; The seventh saw the Mustangs break the lead open even more, with a five run frame, starting with a bases loaded walk to Northwest Missouri State's Parker Griffith, driving in Felix, extending the lead to 7-2.&nbsp;

The scoring run continued in the seventh, Bodenhausen singling next to drive in Benton alum Chris Coy and Justin George.&nbsp; Two more runs scored on another single by Freeman, bringing across Griffith and Bodenhausen.&nbsp; St. Joseph walked it off in the eighth inning, Bodenhausen singling to score Coy.&nbsp;

East Buchanan alum Bronco Whitt pitched two scoreless innings of relief, after starter Landon Reith pitched three innings.&nbsp; Whitt gave up no hits and struck out two batters.&nbsp; Reith gave up the only hits to the Renegades on the night.&nbsp; At the plate, Freeman was the leader going 3-for-5 with 5 RBI's and two stolen bases, also getting a triple on the night.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Mustangs are now 4-1 on the season, and 2-0 in the MINK League, and will next play the Chillicothe Mudcats at Phil Welch Stadium tomorrow.&nbsp; First pitch is at 7pm, gates will open at 5:30.

St. Joseph's Noah Cameron pitched another gem, but the St. Louis Cardinals hit the Kansas City Royals bullpen hard, and in extra innings the Cardinals took game one of a doubleheader, winning 6-5 in 10 innings at Busch Stadium.&nbsp;

Jonathan India got the Royals started off on the right foot, getting Cameron the lead early and on the first pitch, hitting a leadoff home run into left field to give Kansas City a 1-0 lead.&nbsp; In the bottom half of the inning, Cameron quickly worked through the St. Louis lineup,&nbsp; retiring the first three batters on 12 pitches, striking out Brendan Donovan to end the inning.&nbsp;

Cameron's roughest inning of the game was the second inning, which started with back to back walks, throwing 25 pitches, but still got out unscathed. The Royals extended the lead in the fourth inning behind back to back doubles, the first coming from Salvador Perez, before top prospect Jac Caglianone notched his first major league hit and RBI, driving in Perez with a double down the right field foul line.&nbsp;

Vinnie Pasquantino singled in the fifth inning, scoring Bobby Witt Jr, to push the Royals ahead more, giving Cameron a 3-0 lead, which he exited with after six innings of work as manager Matt Quatraro went to his bullpen, calling on John Schreiber for the seventh inning.&nbsp;

With his six scoreless innings of work, Cameron becomes the 1st pitcher since Fernando Valenzuela (1981) to spin six plus innings pitched with one run or fewer allowed in each of his first five MLB starts.&nbsp; Cameron struck out three and walked two, also giving up just two hits in the start.&nbsp;

St. Louis cut the lead to one against Schreiber in the seventh.&nbsp; Willson Contreras doubled and&nbsp;Iván Herrera singled, putting runners on the corners, before Nolan Arenado grounded into a forceout where the Royals were unable to turn a double play, Contreras scoring and Arenado being safe at first as Herrera was out at second.&nbsp; Yohel Pozo later in the inning hit a sacrifice fly scoring Arenado.&nbsp;

In the eighth, the Cardinals took the lead, against Taylor Clarke who had seemed to find his groove after some rough seasons, Herrera giving the Redbirds the lead on a two run home run to center field driving in Donovan and himself.&nbsp;

Kansas City forced extra innings though against Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley.&nbsp; &nbsp;Michael Massey singled, and was pinch ran for by Nick Loftin, which was followed by a single by Kyle Isbel, moving Loftin to third base.&nbsp; India's deep fly ball to left field scored Loftin to tie the game, and moved Isbel to second base, allowing Helsley to intentionally walk Witt Jr.&nbsp; &nbsp;Maikel Garcia popped out to end the inning.&nbsp;

After St. Louis did nothing in the bottom half of the inning, Garcia started the 10th at second base, and was promptly driven in for the Royals lead by Pasquantino on a single, though the Royals could do no more and Carlos Estévez was brought on to try to earn the save, with Pozo starting the bottom half at second for the Cardinals.&nbsp;

Lars Nootbaar's single&nbsp; moved Pozo to third base, and Pozo later scored in the next at bat, Nootbaar moving to second, on a groundout by Masyn Winn.&nbsp;&nbsp;Estévez intentonally walked Donovan, setting up the force out at any base, but Contreras singled into left field, bringing Nootbaar home for the walk off win.&nbsp;

JoJo Romero earned the win in relief for the Cardinals, improving to 2-3 on the season, pitching one inning and giving up one hit with one unearned run, striking out one.&nbsp;&nbsp;Estévez blew his third save, falling to 2-1, recording just one out, giving up two hits and two runs, just one earned, and walking one.&nbsp;

At the plate, Nootbaar (2-5, 1 R), Contreras (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB), and Herrera (2-3, 2 RBI, 1 HR, 1 R, 1 BB) led the way for St. Louis.&nbsp; For the Royals, Pasquantino was 4-for-5 with two RBIs, while India (2-4, 2 RBI, 1 HR, 1 R) and Perez (2-5, 1 R) also helped in the loss.&nbsp;

Kansas City and St. Louis wrap up their series in game two of the doubleheader this evening.&nbsp; Cole Ragans (2-3, 4.53 ERA) takes the mound for the Royals, it’ll be Ragans’ first start since May 16, when he allowed four runs to these Cardinals in five innings at Kauffman Stadium.&nbsp; For the Cardinals, Matthew Liberatore (3-4, 3.08 ERA) will start.

Royals can't back Cameron's strong start, fall 6-5 to Cardinals in extras

A baserunning miscue cost the St. Joseph Mustangs a shot at tying up the game, and the Kansas City Monarchs picked off Jack Mosh to hand the Mustangs their first loss of the season 2-1 at Phil Welch Stadium.&nbsp;

The Mustangs trailed 2-0 until the eighth inning, when Trevor McCollum singled into right field to drive in a run.&nbsp; In the ninth inning St. Joseph got two runners on, but with two outs Mosh was picked off by Blake Colon, who moved from right field to the pitchers mound.&nbsp;

There was no box score for this game.&nbsp;

The Mustangs are now 3-1 on the season and return to MINK league action tomorrow, taking on the Jefferson City Renegades at Phil Welch Stadium.&nbsp; First pitch is at 6:30pm, gates at the ballpark open at 5:15.&nbsp;

Mustangs drop first game of season falling to Monarchs 2-1

Due to inclement weather in the St. Louis area, Wednesday's game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals at Busch Stadium has been postponed.

The Cardinals and Royals will play a split doubleheader on Thursday, with Game 1 starting at 12:45 p.m. and Game 2 following at 6:45.

The Royals will send Noah Cameron, the scheduled starter for Wednesday to the mound in game one, while the Cardinals starter is currently listed as TBD.&nbsp; In game two, Cole Ragans will make his return from the IL for the Royals, and will take on&nbsp;Matthew Liberatore.
