A fun Halloween time event is coming up later this week giving participants the opportunity to learn St. Joseph history and witness the historic Mt. Mora cemetery.
Voices of the Past is returning for another year, this year's event celebrating America 250, with shows on October 1st and 2nd at 6:00, 7:00, and 8:00pm. All proceeds for the event benefit education at the St. Joseph Museums and the Mount Mora Cemetery Preservation & Restoration Association.
Volunteer Sharon Kosek says the tour is a great opportunity to hear about the voices of the past in St. Joseph while celebrating America's 250th anniversary.
"We are looking back at those folks who made a tremendous difference over the scale of the cities' time and how we can celebrate what they did," Kosek says on the KFEQmunnity show.
The tour will begin at the Wyeth Tootle Mansion where guests will meet the first voice of the evening Brigadier General M. Jeff Thompson. Each role is played by a local resident sharing well researched history put together by “Voices” Director Bob Fitzpatrick. From the Wyeth Tootle, participants will take a bus over to the Mt. Mora Cemetery where they will hear from several others who are buried in the cemetery.
"We try to keep it sort of a secret, there's always something that's a surprise at the end of each one of the tours, and it will be a delight this time as well," Kosek explains.
Tickets to Voices of the Past are still available and can be purchased by clicking HERE . Tickets are $30, unless you are a member of the St. Joseph Museums or the Mt. Mora Cemetery Association then tickets are $27.
