Christopher Wayne Risser was born on Good Friday, April 12, 1963, in Albany, Missouri to Elbert and Doris (Steinman) Risser. He shared a birthday with his maternal grandfather.
Chris grew up in the Parnell and Blockton area attending school in Bedford and graduating with the class of 1981. After graduation, he worked at the Co-op in Creston and worked as a hired hand helping local farmers. During this time he lived with his "partner in crime" his grandmother, Myrtle Risser.
Chris married Sandy Sharp in 1988. The couple was married until her passing in 2008. During this time Chris worked a Boyt in Bedford and then began his 24 year career at the Clarinda Correctional Facility, where he worked until he retired in 2020.
On June 3, 2010 Chris was united into marriage to Michelle Puckett. The couple resided in Bedford.
Chris had many hobbies including collecting toy tractors, coins, gardening, raising chickens, training roller doves and had a vast knowledge of guns. Chris also loved to spend time with his sister and her children. He was also a member of the Taylor County Sheriff's Posse. Chris was always willing to help anyone in need this included just being there to listen and maybe talk as well. Chris would also share his opinion with you whether you wanted to hear it or not!
Chris is survived by his wife, Michelle Risser; mother, Doris Risser; children, Kyle Puckett, Kasey (Christopher) Puckett, and Kaitlin (Randan) Puckett; siblings, Gayland (Debbie) Risser, Mike (Teresa) Risser, Malinda Nelson, and Tish (Duane) Warner; grandchildren, Westyn, Sophia, Logan, Hazel, Libby, and Serenity; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Chris is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; father, Elbert Risser; first wife, Sandy Risser and brother, Kerry Risser.
Celebration of Life for Chris Risser, 62, of Bedford, Iowa will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Cummings Family Funeral Home in Bedford, at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the funeral home, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with family greeting friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Memorials may be directed towards the family to be established in Chris's honor.
