CLARINDA, Iowa — Iowa Western Community College is inviting area farmers and landowners to learn how to better support monarch butterflies and other pollinators during an upcoming educational workshop.
The Monarch and Pollinator Habitat Workshop will be held Wednesday, June 4, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the College Depot, located at 923 E Washington Street in Clarinda. The event is free to attend, and includes a complimentary meal for those who register in advance.
The workshop is presented in partnership with Iowa Learning Farms, a program focused on conservation education, and will feature guest speaker Elizabeth Ripley, Conservation and Cover Crop Outreach Specialist with Iowa State University.
The workshop will cover best practices for creating and maintaining pollinator habitats, with a focus on monarch butterflies, whose populations have seen significant decline in recent decades.
