Dorothy Jean Culp, a beloved resident of Skidmore, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026. Born in Maryville, Missouri on July 13, 1923 Dorothy was a cherished member of her community and a devoted homemaker who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.

Dorothy was a proud graduate of Skidmore High School. Dorothy married Richard Franklin Culp in 1941 and this union flourished until his passing in 1977. She dedicated her life to her family and her passions, which included quilt making, bird watching, cooking, and gardening; especially flowers and vegetables. Her love for creating beautiful quilts, all meticulously crafted by hand, was well-known and admired by all who knew her. Dorothy also enjoyed word searches and had a deep appreciation for collecting photos, preserving memories of her loved ones.

Dorothy was a long time fixture in the Skidmore community as a member of the Skidmore Garden Club, Skidmore Saddle Club and Skidmore Successful Club. She was also the 1939 Nodaway County Fair Queen, and the Grand Marshal of the 2023 Skidmore Punkin Show and Parade in Skidmore.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Kurt (Brenda) Culp of Maitland, MO, and her brother, Jerry Peter of Maryville, MO. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Shane (Pam) Culp of Skidmore, MO, Ashley (Tyler) Gaa of Omaha, NE, Travis (Samantha) Culp of Alaska, Kameron (Rachel) Culp of Savannah, MO, Kelly (Sindy) Culp of Graham, MO, Bret Culp of Maitland, MO, Kymbra (David) Ecker of Elmo, MO, and Shawn (Shellia) Culp of Bedford, IA. There are 17 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren left to cherish memories and carry on Dorothy's legacy.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Ralph LeRoy Peter, her mother, Meredith Opal Culp, her husband, Richard Culp, her son, Brad Culp, daughter-in-law, Judith Culp, great-granddaughter, Shaylla Culp, and her brothers, Dean Peter and Ralph Jr. Peter.

A visitation will be held at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO, on Monday, April 6th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Skidmore, MO, on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Family will meet at the funeral home at 12:15 pm to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers honoring Dorothy's memory will be Chase Culp, Kolton Ecker, Kameron Culp, Steffen Culp, Jackson Culp, and Dominic Shackleford.

Dorothy's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home.

Dorothy Culp will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to her family, and her remarkable talents. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
