James Durdin, 76, of Clarinda, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Clarinda Regional Health Center. In keeping with his wishes, no funeral services will be held.
The song of his life has reached its final note, but its melody lingers soft as wind through the trees steady as rivers hum beneath the moon.
James Robert Durdin a proud father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the young age of 76. Born on January 30, 1949, in Trinity, Texas, Jim lived a life marked by love, family, friends, music and nature. He raised his family in Southwest Iowa, and had a long-standing career as a licensed social worker. The majority of his career was working for the State of Iowa at the Clarinda Mental Health Institution.
He positively impacted so many through his work and loving spirit before spending his retirement living in Wisconsin. He was a free spirit that loved a good adventure and has been to almost every National Park. Along with his musk and camping gear he was always ready to meet new people and made new friends.
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, bad jokes and love of the outdoors that will be missed by all who knew him.
Survived in death by two daughters and their spouses, six grandkids, and many extended family members and friends that will miss him greatly.
Though the music has slowed, his spirit plays on in every rusting leaf, every chorus of birds and every note that reminds us love is a song that never ends.
Namaste.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Nodaway Valley Funeral Home of Clarinda.
