Jerry Pritchett, 70, of Clarinda, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Accura Health, Stanton, Iowa.
Jerry Lee Pritchett was born July 9, 1955, to Ralph (Sr) and Helen "Lucille" (Clouse) Pritchett on a farm near Delphos, Iowa. He joined sisters Lois, Eileen, Marilyn, and brother Ralph Jr. Jerry attended school in Redding before graduating from Mt Ayr high school in 1973.
After high school, he began farming with his father Ralph and later attended Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa where he graduated from the Diesel Mechanics program. After his father' s death in 1978 he returned home from college to take over the family farm. On May 26, 1978 Jerry married Julie Hymbaugh. They had one son, Jeremy Lee, born in 1979.
Jerry later married Karen Williams, and they had a daughter, Calin Jo born in 1989. Jerry continued farming at Delphos until 1989 when he moved to a farm north of Clarinda. Upon moving to Clarinda, Jerry continued farming on the side while working for the Page County Secondary roads department on the bridge crew and later as an over-the-road trucker. Jerry owned his own dozer and excavator and did numerous dirt work and demolition jobs on the side locally.
Throughout his life, Jerry raced stock cars at both the Ringgold and Adams county speedways with numerous feature wins over the years. Jerry enjoyed watching eagles, feeding foxes and his cats, watching westerns, trail riding horses, and going on long distance motorcycle rides. Jerry was known as an extremely good fabricator and mechanic as well.
Jerry passed away at Accura Healthcare in Stanton on November 13, 2025 surrounded by family. Jerry will be remembered as a good father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and neighbors.
Preceding him in death were his parents Ralph and Helen "Lucille", sisters Lois Mackey, Eileen Mason, and Marilyn Johnson; his brother Ralph (Jr).
He is survived by his son Jeremy Pritchett of Essex, daughter Calin (Arnold) Gutierrez of Tucson, Arizona, Granddaughter Madeline (Kieran) Hartley of Tipton, Grandson Rylin Pritchett of Boone, grandson Ayson Gutierrez of Tucson, Arizona, and his beloved farm cats as well as many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be open beginning at 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The family will not be present for this visitation.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 21, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill cemetery, north of Clarinda with Greg Young officiating. Open visitation will continue prior to the family and friends meeting at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Nodaway Valley Funeral Home in Clarinda for the procession to the cemetery.
Family will be present immediately following the graveside service and they invite everyone to Jay's Pizza on the square in Clarinda for a time of celebration of Jerry's life and a beer on him. Casual attire is requested.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jerry's name to the Pierce Creek equestrian trails, Hacklebarney equestrian trails, or a local charity of your choice.
