Nodaway County Health Inspections (April 2026)

The following are health inspections in Nodaway County. Inspections are released monthly.

Note that COS means corrected on site.

Mozingo Visitor Center-24665 Ridge Rd. (4-27-26)

  1. Discussed Wash-Rinse-Sanitize warewashing, if needed.

Dollar General #1227-1121 S. Main (4-27-26)

Critical:

  1. Hose bib with hose without an anti-siphon device.

Non-critical:

  1. Bags of dog food on floor of dog food aisle.
  2. Condensate dripping and freezing on ice cream and banana pops in 2-door frozen foods freezer in back room.
  3. Stained ceiling tiles throughout.
  4. Musky/Mildew smell- water standing on floor and damp along east wall of backroom.

Eugene Field Elementary-418 E. 2nd Street (4-27-26)

Non-critical:

  1. Cobwebs along main gas line behind cook stove.

Notes: Discussed a complaint of undercooked chicken, and proper cooking temps.

Maryville High School-1429 S. Munn (4-22-26)

Non-critical:

  1. Need beard restraints as well as hair restraints.

Maryville Middle School-525 South Hills Dr. (4-22-26)

Non-critical:

  1. Condensate dripping on food items (bags of brown gravy) in walk-in freezer-need to catch condensate and arrange so no foods are underneath drippage.
  2. No handwashing signage-signs given.

Notes: Several items at 43° on Teacher's salad bar- okay, but borderline. Hand sinks slow to reach 100°.

Horace Mann School-800 University Dr. (4-21-26)

Notes: Hand sink drain slow.

Northwest Campus Dining-800 University Dr. (4-21-26)

Critical:

  1. Beef in ucook prep bar at 60° and 56°. Removed. COS.
  2. Several hose bibs without anti-siphon devices.

Non-critical:

  1. Main kitchen exhaust hood-hose caulking hanging down over pizza oven pan stored on top. Could contaminate.
  2. Milk dispenser tubes in ucook not cut at 45° angle.
  3. Ceiling tile open by exhaust hood, in dish return, hallway by freezer, and cooking oil recycling room.
  4. Main dish walls and floor need scrubbing, especially under sink and dishwasher. Wall behind sink needs to be recaulked.
  5. Peeling paint in numerous areas from scraping, tape removal, etc.
  6. Several broken tiles throughout kitchen, worst by Keller fire and safety system, broken through the wall.

Chick-Fil-A-800 University Drive (4-21-26)

Non-critical:

  1. Several ceiling tiles removed. Maintenance working on HVAC system.

McAllister's Deli-800 University Drive (4-21-26)

Non-critical:

  1. White plastic bottle on shared ice machine getting some pink slime.

CR BBQ & Catering-Temporary Establishment, in front of Sunrise Dispensary, 2316 S Main (4-20-26)

No violations.

Nodaway-Holt R-7 School-318 S. Taylor, Graham (4-17-26)

No violations.

South Nodaway R-4-209 Morehouse, Barnard (4-17-26)

No violations.

Chick-Fil-A-Temporary Establishment, in front of Westlake Ace Hardware, 1409 S Main (4-16-26)

Notes: Pump out. Temp setup with hot water, soap, towels, and signage there. 3-step dishwashing available, but washed off-site and restocked daily.

West Nodaway R-1-17665 U.S. Hwy 136, Burlington Junction (4-16-26)

Notes: Discussed glove use and handwashing, and backroom ceiling tiles.

Mosaic Medical-2016 S. Main (4-10-26)

Critical:

  1. Cold food not held at 41° or below: tuna salad, cottage cheese, shredded cheese, diced chicken, diced egg, lettuce. COS.

Non-critical:

  1. Drink cups stored under drain line in locker room.
  2. Other food in freezer on floor, but was being put away. COS.

Notes: Discussed floors and employee drinks. COS.

Applebee's-2919 S. Main (4-8-26)

Non-critical:

  1. Splatter on wall behind soda rack.
  2. Some broken tiles throughout-worse by and in walk-ins.
  3. Odors in walk-in coolers-resembles spoiled meat, possibly blood or drippage in seams on the floor. Needs a good mopping with disinfectant.

Hot Diggity Dog-Temporary Establishment, in front of Westlake Ace Hardware, 1409 S Main (4-8-26)

Critical:

  1. Food needs labeled and date marked.
  2. Chips, water, can of cheese on floor.

Northeast Nodaway R-5 School-126 S. High School Ave., Ravenwood (4-8-26)

Follow-up from March 26th:

  1. Ice maker has been cleaning.
  2. Sanitizer dispenser has been replaced.
  3. Handwashing signage is up.
  4. Mice droppings found in dry storeroom. Food in sealed totes, traps out.
