MCDONALD COUNTY —One person drowned just before 6p.m. Saturday on the Elk River in McDonald.
The 24-year-old Fayetteville, Arkansas, man entered the water near the Easy Street in Noel and attempted to assist another swimmer. The 24-year-old became distressed and exhausted. He went under the water and did not resurface.
The dive team made the recovery just after 10a.m. Sunday when the victim was pronounced deceased, according to the Patrol. The Patrol no longer releases names of drowning victims.
