A bipartisan Senate proposal would extend a tax credit supporting small U.S. biodiesel producers through 2029. Iowa Republican Chuck Grassley and Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar introduced legislation extending the Small Agri-Biodiesel Producer Credit, which is scheduled to expire at the end of this year. The credit provides eligible companies 20 cents per gallon on the first 15 million gallons of biodiesel they produce annually.

To qualify, companies can produce no more than 60 million gallons a year and must use domestic agricultural feedstocks. Clean Fuels Alliance America supports the extension. The organization says small biodiesel producers support rural jobs and domestic energy production while supplying lower-cost renewable fuel. Without congressional action, the credit expires December 31st.
