Jo Ann Pollman, daughter of Keith Eugene and Beatrice May (Stover) Nelson, was born in Fairfax, Missouri, on June 2, 1951. She entered into rest at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 74.
Her childhood was spent growing up in Northboro, Iowa, where she attended school from 1957 – 1968, at which time they consolidated with Shenandoah Community School District. She graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1969. After graduation, Jo attended college in Omaha at Commercial Extension until 1971.
On July 28, 1973, Jo was united in marriage to Gary William Anthony Pollman in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple continued to reside in Des Moines before eventually moving back to Northboro, Iowa. Over the course of their marriage, they lived in Coin and Shenandoah as well, but ultimately moved back to their home in Northboro.
She spent time as a Girl Scout Leader and served on the Northboro Betterment Committee while residing there. Jo loved to be outside mowing the yard, going on girls’ outings, or being at home working on Sudoku puzzles. Her greatest pastimes were spent with her family, whether playing cards with the grandkids, cooking and baking with grandkids, or making her sister meatloaf with flies. She was also an avid collector of frogs, gnomes, and international tractors.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Keith and Beatrice Nelson; in-laws, Walter and Dorothy Pollman; brother, Ronald Nelson; in-laws, Linda and Karl Hinrichs, Kevin and Kris Pollman, and Ron Denney; and special friend, Randy Christi. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary Pollman of Northboro, Iowa; daughter, Christina (Scott) Siebert of Breda, Iowa; daughter, Terri Pollman of Northboro, Iowa; sister, Jerilyn (Raymond) Smith of Clarinda, Iowa; brother, Chuck (Ilona) Nelson of Clarinda, Iowa; sister-in-law, Shirley (Dick) Dentlinger of Carroll, Iowa; adopted daughter, Amy Medina of Shenandoah, Iowa; grandchildren, Ty and Walker Harris of Shenandoah, Iowa; Harley and Heritage Longnecker of Shenandoah, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Gary Wyckoff, Rhyian and Tammy Hall, Sherri Skinner, Larry O’Neil, and Diane Christi.
Funeral services will be held at the Nishna Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet relatives and friends with a visitation on Friday evening, November 21, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and request you wear your Kansas City Chiefs or Iowa Hawkeye attire. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon with the family at the Shenandoah Elks.
