Margaret Marie Shipley was born November 11, 1935 in Taylor County, Iowa, to Cecil Peterson and Stella (Carmichael) Peterson. She grew up in the Nodaway, Iowa area and graduated from Villisca High School where she was homecoming queen. Margaret was united in marriage to Everett Larson in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1971. In 1972, she was united in marriage to Joseph Shipley who also preceded her in death in 2022.
Margaret had a variety of work employment but through most of her life she was a farmer’s wife and partner and helped with the farming operation. Other employment included clerking auctions, working at a restaurant and most recent as a mail clerk at the Clarinda Correctional Facility.
Margaret was an active member of the Villisca community serving on the Villisca School board.
Preceding Margaret in death were her parents; husbands, Everett Larson and Joseph Shipley.
Survivors include her sons, Everett Larson of Imogene, Iowa and David Shipley of Red Oak, Iowa; other extended family and many friends.
A graveside memorial Service will be held at Nodaway Cemetery, Nodaway, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Margaret Shipley Memorial. Arrangements were entrusted to the Nodaway Valley Funeral Home of Clarinda.
