Deloris Jean “Dee” Cooper, age 82, of Shenandoah, Iowa passed away suddenly on Friday, November 7, 2025.
She was born on January 15, 1943 in Bethany, Missouri to the late Eugene and Melva Maxine Nicholls. Dee married Clyde D. Cooper, Jr. on February 18, 1977 in Fayette, Iowa. They made their home in Shenandoah. Dee worked as the church secretary for the Shenandoah First United Methodist Church for many many years and was an active former member of the Booster Club when her sons were in school.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde D. Cooper, Jr in October of 2001 and her parents.
Survivors include brother, Ed and Mary Nicholls of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter, Kim Schenck and David Steinert of Austin, Texas; sons, Kevin and Beth Schenck of Omaha, Nebraska, Daniel and Kami Cooper of Osceola, Iowa and Brandon and Wenday Cooper of Council Bluffs, Iowa; stepson, Brian and Karen Cooper of Hope Mills, North Carolina; her first husband Robert Schenck of Omaha, Nebraska; and several close friends and relatives including her cousins Leland “Leon” Nicholls of Menomonie, Wisconsin and Lynda Stephens of Shenandoah. Dee was the proud grandmother of Emma Steinert, Dylan and Katy Schenck, Lexi and Finley Cooper and Kota and Katherine Cooper.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in Dee’s memory.
