Velma Rose Dudeck was born in Marion County, Kansas on April 24, 1928. She was one of two children of Arthur L. and Sarah (Miller) Popp. Velma’s father passed away when she was three, and her mother later married Gottlieb Arbeiter.
Velma graduated from York, Nebraska High School. On March 30, 1952 Velma married Paul E. Dudeck. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Velma was a typical farmwife of that generation, busy with helping on the farm, gardening, canning, and raising many chickens and their four children.
Velma was also preceded in death by infant triplets; son, George; grandson, Michael Dudeck; and her brother, Lowell Popp.
After Paul’s death, Velma continued to live on the farm until this past May. She passed away on July 22, 2025 at the Oregon Cere Center.
Survivors include her children, David (Anne) Dudeck, Dan (Karen) Dudeck, and Ruth (Jayson) Johnson; grandchildren, Rob (Beth) Dudeck, Matthew (Elizabeth) Dudeck, Chris (Laura) Daniel, Ashli (Jim) Wiederholt, David (Sarah) Dudeck, Joshua Dudeck, Jessica Pavlisin, Brooke (Jess) Berkey, Brittany (Brandon) Walker, and Brett (Lexi) Johnson; great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Jackson, and Kenton Dudeck; George, John, and Jacob Dudeck; Anna and Hank Daniel; Grayson, Elli, and William Wiederholt; Noah, Hadley, and Eliana Dudeck; Georgia and Amelia Dudeck; George, Charles, Adelaide and Ruby Pavlisin; William and Jack Burkey; and Eva Mae, Colin, and Meredith Walker.
