Carol Kiersch, age 88, passed away peacefully in Clarinda, Iowa, on September 19, 2025.
Carol Eleanor Kiersch was born on December 12, 1936, in Glenwood, Iowa, one of seven children of Christina Anna Maria Fredrika (Hice) and Charles Henry Crouch. Carol grew up in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1955. After graduation, she began working at Mutual of Omaha.
On February 2, 1957, Carol married Herman John Kiersch. The couple made their first home in Silver City, Iowa, where Herman began his career with Pepsi-Cola Co. In 1969, the family relocated to Clarinda, Iowa, due to Herman’s job, and it was there that they raised their five daughters: Kim, Kristi, Joni, Jeanne, and Holly. Carol and Herman were among the early employees at Hoover-NSK in Clarinda, where they both worked for many years before retiring.
Carol and Herman shared 57 wonderful years of marriage before Herman's passing on August 12, 2014.
In her later years, Carol lived at Clare Haven Manor, where she enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends over coffee at Garrison House, and watching Kansas City Chiefs games with her dear friend Bill Henry. Above all, Carol treasured time spent with her family and grandchildren. Even as her health declined, she remained determined not to miss a single family gathering.
In addition to her husband Herman, Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Kim Davis (Ken), Kristi Brown (Ed), Joni Kiersch, Jeanne Goecker (Craig), and Holly Kiersch (Gregg); 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials are kindly suggested to the Clarinda Foundation with designation to the trails. Arrangements were entrusted to the Nodaway Valley Funeral Home of Clarinda.
