KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations

Just after 10p.m. March 16, a sheriff's deputy attempted to stop on a vehicle for multiple traffic violations in the area of SW Outer Rd. and Pine St. in the Cass County Community of Archie, according to a media release.

The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Michael Cox, failed to yield to the deputy’s emergency equipment and a pursuit ensued.  Cox fled northbound on Interstate 49 at a high rate of speed.  Cox then crashed his vehicle in a field near SE Outer Rd. and 283rd St. in Harrisonville and ran from the vehicle.

With assistance from a K9 Unit, Cox was found near the 283rd Street overpass and placed into custody.

Cox has been charged with Aggravated Fleeing A Stop Or Detention (D Felony), Operation A Motor Vehicle In A Careless And Imprudent Manner (A Misdemeanor) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (D Misdemeanor).

He’s currently at the Cass County Jail with a $50,000 cash only bond.
