A new Miss Missouri will be crowned next week, as the current titleholder looks back on a busy year across the state.

Courtney Rowe says she spent that time traveling Missouri, raising awareness and supporting victims of domestic violence through her outreach work.

“I am personally a survivor of domestic violence. I turned that pain into purpose, so that inspired me to raise money, to donation drive, all to give back to shelters across the state. It's so isolating going through domestic violence," Rowe says

Reflecting on a year traveling all around the state, Rowe says that journey has taken her to communities across Missouri, including a recent stop in Marshfield.

“They have so many incredible people. There was a musician from Marshfield, Missouri, who was a finalist on The Voice on the last season," Rowe explains.  "Music, talent, and just really great dedicated individuals in our state.”

Rowe says that the journey has taken her to communities across Missouri, giving her a chance to connect with people and share her message along the way.

“I’m from a bigger city. Getting to spend more time in smaller towns has been so, special because those communities truly are so tight-knit and you feel that when you walk in there," Rowe says

This year, more than 60 contestants are competing for the titles of Miss Missouri and Miss Missouri Teen in events running June 10th through the 13th in central Missouri’s Mexico.
