Dean Edwin Wiley, age 93, of Fairfax, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2025, at Community Hospital in Fairfax.

Dean was born May 20, 1932, near Dotham, Missouri, at the family home. He was one of seven children born to Ora B. and Zeta Marie (Short) Wiley.

He received his elementary education at Walkup Grove Country School and graduated from Fairfax High School with the Class of 1950.

Following high school, Dean served his country in the United States Army. As a Corporal, he spent more than eighteen months in Korea. Upon completing his tour, he returned to the United States and was honorably discharged in 1954 from Fort Carson, Colorado.

On December 30, 1956, Dean was united in marriage to Lois Davis at the Fairfax Baptist Church. They were blessed with 68 years of devoted marriage.

Dean served as manager of MFA Agri-Services in Fairfax from 1964 until his retirement in 1994. He greatly valued the relationships he built with area farmers and took pride in serving the agricultural community. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time at home with Lois and his family. He also pursued his love of the outdoors, especially trapping beaver and hunting rabbits and raccoons.

A faithful member of Fairfax Baptist Church for more than 70 years, Dean was baptized on December 7, 1947. He was also a member of the John Richards American Legion Post 284 of Fairfax.

Dean loved life and was known for saying, “Every day is a good day.”

He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Irene Adkins, Marie Gwennap, Alva Lee Wiley, Ora B. Wiley Jr., Marvin Wiley, and Billy Wiley (who passed in infancy).

Survivors include his wife, Lois, of the home; daughter Jo Beth (Wayne) Vance of Fairfax; son Jack (Rhonda) Wiley of Craig, Missouri; grandchildren Craig Vance, Curtis Vance, Carissa Masonbrink, Alyssa Shaw, and Jessica Lindsay; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Fairfax Baptist Church in Fairfax, Missouri. Military honors will be provided at the church by the U.S. Army Military Honors Team and the Tarkio American Legion Post #199. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the church.
