Larry Schmitz, 85, of Conception Junction, Missouri passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Village Care Center in Maryville.
Larry was born on February 10, 1941, in Conception Junction, Missouri to Roy A. and Emma M. (Kohmetscher) Schmitz. He attended Swinford Country School and served in the United States Army.
Larry was an over the road truck driver and farmer. He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Council #1931, Tri-C American Legion Post #464 and the Tri-C Fire Department. He enjoyed going on cruises, casinos and gardening.
Larry married Martha “Marty” (Graham) Volner on November 21, 1981, in Conception Junction, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2023. He was also preceded by his parents, two brothers, infant Roy Joseph Schmitz, and Harold Schmitz.
Survivors include three children, Jeany Volner, John Volner and Julie (Tracy) Smail; three grandchildren, Amanda (Mark) Donnici, Jordan Morrison and Tessa Shelley; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Michael Donnici; sister, Betty Runde; brother, Ronald (Marilyn) Schmitz, numerous nieces and nephews and family friend, Kelly Morrison.
Mass of Christian Burial 10am Wednesday, May 6th at St. Columba Catholic Church under the care of Price Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery in Conception. Rosary 5:30pm Tuesday, May 5th at St. Columba Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Tri-C Fire Department.
