Donna Smith, 89, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Village Care Center.
Donna was born on July 9, 1936, in Dunning, Nebraska to George J. and Margaret A. (Iverson) Fisher. She was a graduate of Brewster High School in Brewster, Nebraska. She was a homemaker most of her life. When her loving husband became ill, she devoted her life to caring for him. Donna loved going to the casinos and watching the PBR finals. She was a member of Saint Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and volunteered in the gift shop at St. Francis Hospital.
Donna married Wayne W. Smith on October 21, 1955, in Colome, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2000. She was also preceded by her parents, three sisters, Odetta (Bill) Huffman, Dorothy (Vic) Howard, Georgie (Ede) Howard, and her son-in-law, Terry Garrett.
Survivors include her children, Patricia (Lewis) Sowards, Les (Janet) Smith, Marjorie Garnett, Gregory (Paula) Smith; eleven grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Sharon (Merlyn) Rieber and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church in Maryville, MO under the care of Price Funeral Home. Following mass, the burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Maryville, MO. A luncheon will be held at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church after the burial. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 5:30PM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00PM. The family has requested memorials to The American Arthritis Foundation for research.
