David “Mike” Michael Hainline passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his home. Mike was born on May 17, 1951, in Elmo, MO to Jackie Lee Hainline and Bessie Caroline (Kerns) Hainline. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Maryville High School. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts and a member of the Mic-O-Say tribe. A natural athlete, he excelled at baseball. On August 21, 1971, he married Janice Kay Rickabaugh in Ravenwood, MO.
From an early age, Mike loved working on cars and by his teen years he was a skilled mechanic. He worked as a mechanic for several car dealerships throughout his life. He retired from Hiawatha Ford as the Service Manager. He was an avid outdoorsman. He had a great love for fishing, hunting game and mushrooms, and golfing. He could always weave a good fishing tale!
He was very proud that he taught three generations how to fish and enjoyed hearing about his great grandsons’ fishing adventures. They always had to send a picture of their big catch to Papa Mike!
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Lavelle and Dorothy Rickabaugh, brothers in-law, Sam Glassford and Lynn Rickabaugh, and nephews Daniel O’Keefe and Todd Rickabaugh. He is survived by his wife Janice of the home, daughters Christine Forney (David Glidden) of Barnard, MO and Heather Kline (Travis) of Maryville, MO, siblings Jacqueline Glassford and Jack Hainline Jr., both of Maryville and Rose Fowler (Doug), Bella Vista, AR. He is also survived by grandchildren Madeline Dowis, Cassidy Kline, and Parker Kline, all of Maryville and Cole Forney, Springdale, AR, and great grandchildren Decker and Dawson Dowis of Maryville. Baby Ellie will be arriving soon.
We will always try to not let the big one get away and if it does, we know it was at least a 10 pounder! Mike is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
There will be open visitation on Monday February 2, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Price Funeral Home in Maryville, MO. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 3, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Price Funeral Home. Burial immediately following the service at Nodaway Memorial Gardens.
