Ben George Barger, age 71, Maryville, Missouri died unexpectedly Monday, August 11, 2025 at his home in Maryville.
Ben was born October 24, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of the late Duane “Bud” and Lola (Lyle) Barger.
Ben was a graduate of Northeast Nodaway High School, Ravenwood, Missouri. He received a BS in English from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.
He was united in marriage to Brenda Downing, December 31, 1981. Brenda preceded him in death on December 16, 2019.Ben worked in the quality control lab at the Energizer Battery Plant in Maryville for 22 years.
Ben faithfully attended worship services at Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Brenda, brother Richard Barger and his sister Judy Rodrick.
His survivors include two sons, Brett Barger, Columbia, Missouri and Jeremy (Stacy) Mason, Parnell, Missouri, two grandchildren Jenna and Jared Mason, nieces, nephews and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Ben’s body has been cremated under the care of the Hann Funeral Home, Grant City, Missouri.
Memorial services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville. The family will receive friends from 9-10 AM prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association in Ben’s name.
