Missouri cattle producers are pushing back against President Trump's plan to increase the amount of foreign beef entering the U.S. market.
President Trump wants to temporarily expand imports of foreign ground beef and ease restrictions on some imported beef products to boost supply and help lower grocery prices. Missouri Cattlemen's Association President Anita Vanderwert says the move will hurt cattle producers, discourage herd expansion, and benefit meat packers instead of farm families.
Missouri Congressman Sam Graves also criticized the proposal, saying it could undermine American cattle producers. The association is urging Missouri's congressional delegation to oppose the plan.
