ATCHISON COUNTY, Kan. —Atchison County Emergency Services, Rescue and EMS Divisions, responded upon Atchison County Sheriff's Office request to search for a missing 3-year-old child in rural Atchison County.
The child was located safe and returned to family Thursday afternoon. The hero is Maverick the dog, "the bestus boy ever."
Maverick was located with the child and had apparently stayed by the child's side through the entire event. Maverick got all the treats and scratches responders could provide.
In addition to Maverick, Atchison County Emergency Services thanked the family, volunteers, Atchison County Emergency Services, Atchison County Sheriff's Office, ACRFD#2 (Effingham), ACRFD#5 (Lancaster), ACRFD#1 (Shannon), Atchison County Communications, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Valley Falls Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks.
