Linda Carol Stephens Wilkinson Sorensen was born November 8, 1945 to Albert Junior Stephens and Helen Louise King Stephens in Topeka Kansas. She met and married Charles Wilkinson and there they were blessed with four daughters and a son. Later she married Ronnie Sorensen, and she was blessed to have two additional daughters enter her life, Sandy Sorensen and Teresa Snead. Linda passed away January 17, 2026 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph surrounded by her loved ones.
Linda married Ronnie Sorensen in May of 2011and they resided in Albany Mo. Linda was a CNA and worked in nursing homes in Albany. Some would say she was the best “CARE” giver there was. Later in life she worked for Caring First as a Caregiver and there she developed many close relationships with the people she cared for. Later she became the guardian to one special young man Leslie, who called her Momma. Her presence was missed dearly when she retired in 2022, due to her health failing and being beyond retirement age. Momma loved vicks for everything and even applied it to her children and grandchildren, like it or not! She had her vicks in hand right up to her death. She loved Root beer floats and that was her last meal. The laugh of the day is Momma married Marcys husbands’ brother, so she then became her sister-in-law as well as her momma. Momma believed in Jesus and prayed every day. She listened to her bible app on her phone, and she fervently prayed for her loved ones. Momma loved board games and cards, she used to let Terry stay home from school so she would have someone to play with. Her favorite was Yahtzee. She also loved her soap operas. The music we came home to was Fats Domino, Elvis, and Freddy Fender (she taught us to love to dance as we danced together-she usually had a snack waiting for us) oh and she loved Conway Twitties sexy voice. Most importantly she loved her visits from family, she gave the best hugs and kisses. She was so highly active in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was a giver and a lover we will so badly miss her but thankful she is no longer in pain and enjoying her time now with the loved ones that went on before her.
Our special memories are that anytime we were sick she comforted us and cared for us. When we were disobedient, she made sure we were corrected. The bible says love is when you discipline your child and that is something we were taught, to be disciplined, Love and be loved, forgive be honest and be respectful helping others. Our parents might have been tough on us, but it made us who we are today, that is love. When we fought, they made us sit there together holding hands until we could say we were sorry and get along.
