CLAY COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Clay County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Kia Optima driven by a 21-year-old Kansas City, Missouri woman was northbound on Interstate 35 near the 435 interchange. The car struck a person who entered the road. The pedestrian, later identified as a 40-year-old Bates City man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The MSHP no longer releases names of accident victims.
